Is the subnet set correctly on each device?

Yes...that is what is so weird about it. Everything is set right...it is just the PC/Server that matters that stops seeing this network device.

what's the latency to that far off connection?

I've already left the location for the day and as mentioned, the camera server will not ping past the "BarnToTree" so I will try to check that tomorrow when I go back out there.

    • Camera Server Can't Ping Network Device

I have a Milestone camera server I manage that doesn't want to ping past a certain network device. The camera server is connected to the wired network and via Ubiquity Nanobridges, it talks to 2 of the 8 cameras that are not on the main complex. One of them is working fine but the furthest one is not working. There are 4 nanobridges that are lovingly called:

      • Lodge Carport Nanostation

      • BarnDonkey Nanostation

      • Barn To Tree

      • Tree

And they are in that hopping order...

From the TREE, it goes to a Ubiquity Switch by the main gate and a camera mounted on a tree is plugged into that.

Everything shows to be up and running. The "TREE" even shows up in the UNI GUI as well as the GATE SWITCH and camera.

But the camera server will not PING the TREE Nanobridge. No matter of reboots of it and the devices. The DHCP/DNS settings are correct on all devices and my laptop (connected to the same network) can see all the way to the gate camera.

Any suggestions on what the cause could be?

Well it does help me as I am still in a SOLO IT shop after 11 years...don't have time to code a website...

Is Wix saving you time? LOL

You don't code websites, you use tools like Hugo or Gatsby if you need something simple, or WordPress if you need a CMS.

One of the reasons those tools are recommended for businesses is the time savings.

It might actually help now, there's every possibility that it might actually be faster to move to something else than to troubleshoot Wix where you are dependent on their support.

Well, it also helps that the owners daughter wants control of website too so this is another reason I did Wix about 5-6 years ago.

    • Wix Form "Harry Potter" Issue

I have set up a form in Wix to help set up a job board here at our company...

      http://www.pinnaclestructures.com/job-board

When pulling up in Edge, it looks and works fine. In Chrome or Safari (desktop and mobile), it sometimes shows a "Harry Potter" template.

I contacted WIX SUPPORT and even got in touch with the Dev but they said they never seen that before. As much as I could, I combed that page in Wix to look for any reference to this Harry Potter thing but can't find it.

Now, this has become a "thing" with management...so beyond changing the form, any other places I can look at to fix this?

    • VPN Slowdowns - Anything I Can Do?

We now have 6 people who work out of state. 4 in Texas, 1 in California and 1 in Maryland. They all have domain connected laptops that I pre-configure with our applications before they get them and they connect to our VPN via the build in VPN connector in Windows 10/11. Our VPN is provided by our Windows Server with port forwarding on our ISP provided Vigor firewall.

I understand issues like internet pipes and the "hops" it takes to get back to our office on VPN but we see some significant drops in speed. Some apps that require a lot of file transfers, are almost unusable.

Is there anything I can do on our end to aid in some speed increases? I'm also willing to spend money if we have to on software or a network appliance.

      Thanks!

Well, I thought I was done with this project...I did fix the Isolated issue and got his generator connected but now he wrote me today saying mostly his televisions and phones are not connecting:

      1db9f4be-3374-4828-ba76-73937c49eb4b-image.png

I think this is because of the 3 OFFLINE devices shown earlier in this post...I do have 3 more Beacons to install but he won't let me do it when his wife is home...not that this is the answer to the problems but worth a try...the "Living Room TV" should be getting a fair signal from the CLOSET AP.

I have a new BEACON in his study and it is strong and that is pretty much the only room he goes into.

One thing of note...this house is full of thick, high quality timber/wood walls. And it just may have to have a "ton" of Extenders...

Well, I reconnected IN LAW ACCESS POINT to the wired network, it readopted, set to Mesh, put it back on PoE only and while it took a bit (because I had to reboot every device), we are working now!

    • RE: UniFi Network With "Isolated" Access Points and Extenders

Here is a description of the topology:

Cloud Key Plugged into Primary Switch (that's the fiber modem resting on top)
      fib_cloud_key.jpg
      fib_01.jpg

Fiber modem is plugged into the Pepwave Router/Gateway into LAN/WAN and the LAN&Console port goes back to our Uni Switch.
      fib_02.jpg

The AccessPoint called CLOSET is plugged into this switch.

The AccessPoint called STORAGE ROOM is plugged into an 8 port UniSwitch upstairs which has a cable that goes down to the Primary Switch.

The AccessPoint called IN-LAW ACCESS POINT was configured on the primary switch and then I moved it to the In-Law room in hopes it will boost signal outside. It is just plugged in POE and shows up on network as WIRED for some reason but shows ISOLATED.

      fib_03.jpg

I'm ready to factory reset devices if I need to but lord help me if I have to create a new Wi-Fi SSID and password...which I shouldn't...

My goal now is to fix the ISOLATION issues and make sure that farthest AP (IN-LAW) can give enough Wi-FI outside to his generator to connect. I am heading to his house now and hope to have it done by 12 central if I can.

@garak0410 The wired unit shouldn't be isolated. I have had this many times. The only solution for us was to SSH to the unit and factory reset it, then re-adopt it.

Since you have the IP of both, you should be able to SSh to both. If not, you'll need a paper clip 😞

I actually used a SIM tool to reset it before I left and it oddly didn't reset...guess I need to hold it longer.

I find it odd that the other extenders went OFFLINE too.

The In-Law Access Point is actually just PoE powered and in the, well, in-law room. It may show wired on the network but it isn't.

    • UniFi Network With "Isolated" Access Points and Extenders

I'm appealing to the Ubiquity experts here...

How do you fix the annoying "ISOLATED" issue. I think this would resolve the issues of the extenders not pushing out very far...I need it to go less than 100 feet to a generator that is WiFi capable and not only does it cut out but the "app" for the generator doesn't' want to accept the password for the SSID.

      UPDATE...

I wanted to compare the settings between the site that is working and this site. Both sites use the Pepwave for the gateway. The only difference I've seen in the WAN settings is that this site with No Wi-Fi has LAN PASSTHROGH selected...

      mango_04.jpg

That's the only difference I've seen on the gateway end...

I unchecked this and have at least one AP a Dynamic and it is working...we have internet on the WiFI now.

Yep, that would do it all right. I guess someone might want that option at some point, but it would be an oddball thing to do.

You know, it is always that one setting that can drive us IT Pros mad. And I know I looked there like 100 times.

      UPDATE:

My AP's and extenders were set to static, like I did a year ago when I set up this place. I changed the AP called STORAGE ROOM to Dynamic and it pulled the IP of the WAN/Public IP. I moved it back to static to be safe. Any clue why it would do that? Could this be a setting in the gateway/router?

You can see the APs in the controller software?

Do you have a VLAN on the SSID in question?

Other than the ISP - did anything else change? the firewall? some router between the APs and firewall?

Yes, the two access points show up as well as the extenders...it seems like the extenders are trying to get their connection from the STORAGE ROOM AP. Both CLOSET and STORAGE ROOM are currently plugged into the Primary Switch (as part of troubleshooting and last thing I could do before I left)

      mango_01.jpg

That STORAGE ROOM AP has options for VLAN management but it points to my primary network name which I called LAN:

      mango_02.jpg

I checked the SSID settings and no options for VLAN.

My NETWORK called LAN has a VLAN option but nothing is listed there...

      mango_03.jpg

Nothing changed at all...as described in the start of this thread, we are still using the modem from the previous provider as our router/gateway.

The modem is a bridge modem so it just passes the internet through to the Pepwave gateway. And as mentioned, Wired networks are fine.

@garak0410 Try going into each AP and disabling all un-needed features. We've had a lot of trouble in the past year with meshing getting turned on after a controller update. Causes the APs to attempt routing between each other instead of the wire they're plugged into. Creates a network loop that packets never escape from.

All of them had MESHING enabled...I've turned it off on the AP's and waiting to see what happens...one of the PC's I have there also has a wireless adapter so I am able to test with that but so far, it connects to WiFi network but NO INTERNET.
