@IRJ I know right. The powers that be on the gov network said they won't allow it.

The upside then, is, that you have someone to blame and say "this is how it works, this was their decision to have this issue." Wash hands, walk away.

@G-I-Jones I like Windows 7 a lot, but since the things are moving forward we all will use something new instead very soon. Just remember how people wanted to stay on Windows XP, but finally updated their OS. The same will happen with Windows 7 and most of users will move on Windows 10 or will choose another option 😉

Having just done an IP scheme change a month or so ago, I'm A DHCP Reservations believer. Made the process so simple.

Out of curiosity, was a Windows Server handling DHCP for the network?

Why would this matter? I've done the same thing with Windows DHCP and with router DHCP. Both are fairly trivial.Just watch the details. Like anything.

I was told that upgrading Windows Servers, DHCP reservations don't transfer. Of course it should be quick and easy to redo the reservations. Just one of those little annoyances.

Umm, like anything, you export your config and import it on the new server.

@g-i-jones That's interesting that we don't have the same issue then. Glad you got it resolved.

Still a work in progress right now, so it is manual.

@jaredbusch quick question. How did you take what it output and make it so fancy looking on this comment thread?

Well first i opened the CSV in Office and transposed the output because it made it all across the top.

Then I used this to create the markdown table.
      https://donatstudios.com/CsvToMarkdownTable
Note: Even though it says CSV to Markdown, you can copy/paste right out of Excel/Calc

Manually making a table in markdown is stupid.

@kelly Thanks. Things are starting to pan out that way it seems.

Also, use this chance to consider if there are pieces that don't need to be on the domain. Might lessen the conversion process.

For user profile migrations, I generally use Transwiz. It will package the user's profile (domain or local) on the old system and when you run it on the new one, it creates the registry entries and copies all the content to the users folder. I have been using it for years and rarely have any weird issues.

Does it copy the users' cert store?

Good question. I do not know.

I don't see the benefit of requiring federal contractors to be A+ certified.

I know here in CA, they require Sec+... maybe they (your immediate employer) have it wrong, because A+ makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

Definitely no benefit to it, just a requirement.

I agree, if you pay attention to the bit about wanting to learn PHP, it's something easy to set up and easy to maintain.
