They want to teach full time, and not have to do manual labor or whatever else when they aren't employed.
I see this has an issue on both sides.
What's the issue on the college side? Why would it pay more or give permanent jobs to people who aren't employable? What I really want to know is why any student finds it acceptable to be taught by people useless in the real world!
The college side has the issue of not being able to say "listen, you are unemployable besides for this part time work, there is manual labor, go do that instead."
Because of the political correctness that we all have to follow.

RE: Staying Anonymous Online
This sounds like an awful lot of work for very little gain.
What does moving to a country with "good internet connection speeds, but limited ability to track its citizens" even look like?
I can't name one country that has good speeds, but limited ability to track its citizens.
Someone should've told the author to have his tin-foil hat checked...

The IT job market continues to tighten as companies find it harder and harder to find workers with the skills that they need.
Really? Wonder how many HR types would claim I'm not qualified just because I don't have a cert?
Yeah I've never understood that about certifications either. Sure if you work for a Citrix or VMWare or even an MSP who supports such software you want to say "we have certified professionals on staff to assist"
But as a hiring manager who needs someone with proven experience, a cert is just toilet paper when it comes to it. Prove it by doing what you say, not by showing me a piece of paper.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
What you should've done is run that internet directly into 1 Users desktop. Told them to share it until a fix was produce. And see who comes back without a limp, or missing limb.

@DustinB3403 Unplug it, plug it back in. Reboot it... Replace it... easy-peasy!
Replace the user, also works.

RE: hyper-V in desktop machine (core 2 Deo 2 GB Ram and 250 GB in HD)
At our environment we use XenServer CE, and a backup script named NAUBackup.
It runs via crontab jobs, and will make running state backups of the specificed VM's. It really works well.
We then pull these snapshots down, and test in virtual box on our workstations.
It's simple and free to setup, just needa NFS or CIFS server to host the snapshots.

RE: Oh Cali - Way to over react
I think we should just get a crap ton of explosives and blow Cali out into the middle of the ocean, since they want to pull crap like this.
Can we try and put some sort of congress retreat in place and get the rest of the politicians there at the same time...?

Exchange Student would like to Learn System Administration
So my exchange student (not MS Exchange) has expressed interest in learning about IT. Obviously IT is an enormous field, and the one I am most familiar with is System Administration and IT Generalist roles.
And while I do think everyone needs some IT Generalist experience, it's not something that I think would be worth the effort to "teach" as much as it would be quicker learned on the job.
Now I don't have any jobs lined up for him, just looking for ideas of things that I can have him setup on my home lab to get a good feel for IT.
What does the NTG team have their interns do / practice? @Minion-Queen @scottalanmiller

RE: What would you use to replace WSUS from SBS
Ah....
Sorry for the confusion then. Do they have the resources to run another WSUS server and proper licensing? It really is quite a simple solution.
PDQ Deply has options for 3rd party app updates etc, but requires annual renewal.

OpenSwitch moves under Linux Foundation Umbrella
"The Linux Foundation on Wednesday announced that it has taken the OpenSwitch Project under its wing.
OpenSwitch last year began as a joint project of Hewlett Packard Enterprises, Broadcom, VMware, Accton, Intel and Arista.
OpenSwitch is an open source, Linux-based network operating system, or NOS, that works with enterprise-grade switches from multiple vendors."

Built a 9'x8' extension on our deck last night... I am very sore right now. Have to rebuild to deck stairs tonight. Getting ready to sell the house is a lot more work then I initially thought. The average sale is 18-24 months after the house is put on the market, my wife isn't happy.
About 2 years ago my girlfriends parents were selling their house. We completely renovated everything from pulling the floor to ceiling mirrors, ripping up the pink carpet, and refinishing all of the floors.
The house sold in 2 weeks, for a very substantial profit.
Be patient with the process, and you might just get lucky.

You might put some projects you've implemented at each of your jobs, something the business is still using. How the projects were managed (if by you), planned etc.

Banks report accounts hit as a part of TeamViewer breach
Teamviewer is updating their security protocols as banks are now reporting breaches from users who use Teamviewer.
So is it "we weren't hacked, but we're improving security to shut people up now?"
