      Gotcha 😉

Ah. I've run it on Vultr before... I only had 6 players so I didn't need so much performance.

I know they have high frequency systems that get some pretty killer single core performance.

      https://www.vultr.com/products/high-frequency-compute/

But the two big Arma communities that I know collocate their servers.

yeah... it's more like 80 players and a freaking amount of AI.

Yeah. Wish someone would write a plugin to offload the AI to a dedicated client.

But I also hate mixing business and personal.
Sure, I can have myself added to the organization using my personal account. And sure things stay separate.

This is what I ran into in the past.... right now I use LastPass for business and Bitwarden for personal. Works pretty well.

No solution does this to my knowledge.

LastPass used to but the functionality was removed at some point.

You can have an organization with multiple people in the org if that is what you are taking about.

I think @JaredBusch means the browser app/plugin. I could be wrong though.

One of the other ways I resolved this in the past was have the browser plugin for the one I use the most and the desktop app logged into the one I use the least. You just miss out on autofill if you use the desktop app.

I have a personal bitwarden account on my gmail address.

work will be creating me a bitwarden account on my company email address.

Can both of these things be signed in at one time?

Google tells me this has been asked for, but I can find no records of if it is possible.

This tool should not require me to give a personal email address to the company in order to be able to access shared resources without logging in and out of bitwarden all of the time.

No, it's a feature request but not available in their applications.

One solution would be to create a new profile (I think you use Firefox) and have a shortcut for the different profiles. Not a perfect solution.... but better then nothing.

So long as you weren't goofing off during that time obviously. You said you were watching your kid, so I assume there was some amount of "not working time" there. That's fine.

But I'd kind of equate that to your lunch break, how much "not working time" was there?

about 2 hours total through out the day. 1 hour for lunch then - an hour for taking care of the kid.

So 7 hours makes sense then.

Bought my wife a copy of Titan Quest... bad idea 😛 Still a great game which supports LAN-only multiplayer - sadly, most older games don't play well with with virtual NICs from Hyper V and Docker Desktop.

      f873e44b-db97-4f50-8fd9-6e456a27a262-image.png

Looks like an early rendition of WoW.

It's more like Diablo. Great game for its time

      like Diablo and Diablo 2?

More like D2 or PoE. The interesting aspect is that you can combine two classes, like rogue + mage or rune + defender.

I guess you aren't talking about Power over Ethernet?

My bad: Path of Exile, really worth it. Free 2 Play without Pay 2 Win. You can only buy chest space, character slots and cosmetics, but nothing that makes you more powerful in any way.

That's awesome. I've never looked at this but sounds like I should.

If you were a fan of Diablo 2 you'd love Path of Exile. Even Grim Dawn, another phenomenal hack-n-slash, doesn't hold a candle to PoE.

I agree that the game has a ton of play through and depth, but it's such a massive grind.

I think that's the point of the genre.

That doesn't mean I can't get work done.

Working on vacation is totally an American concept.

Visiting the in-laws is not exactly a vacation either.

Heh, yeah I was going to add unless you are in Japan but not on vacation when you are working. Similar to how I did before, had a couple of weeks of true vacation, and worked remotely otherwise, while overseas.

That's the benefit to this type of workstyle. The "need" for a true vacation is so much less. Because I already do pretty much what I want.

Yeah, we talk about that at NTG a lot.... the "work as a lifestyle" type work. A career and job and company that let's your work and your life integrate. The idea of a vacation starts to not mean much. Vacations are conceptually for people who want to escape work and life. But we approach it as... you shouldn't want to escape your job. We try to make working here something people enjoy, not just "good enough for the paycheck."

Are you prepared to test that by offering unlimited paid vacation?

If the job is 100% remote, you basically get that - this doesn't mean you won't have scheduled times to be on conference calls, etc..

Depends on the job... I was 100% remote but was expected to be at my desk, constantly, between 9am and 6pm.

tactical wargame mechanics of DnD 4e (or so I've been told)

Yeah, they pretty much ripped it die roll for die roll from 4e from the people I've talked to.

The combat system was the thing I (and most gamers) hated the most about 4e.

This was quite a bit of fun. I'm not a minis and hexes gamer typically so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I think it made a huge difference with how the mechanics of the various mechs worked out. It is a very tightly designed game. No one felt over powered compared to the rest, we ended up winning both scenarios, but it was by very narrow margins.

I've heard good things about Lancer to be honest. I'd like to try it at some point. I think the mechanics need to fit the setting and they do a much better job in this instance.

I know this will get alot of hate, but it just takes alot of effort and patience to make linux work with peripherals and once you do keeping your system up to date is difficult it might botch your manual configs..

Actually I find the opposite. We have continuous issues with Windows (but less than in the past for sure) and essentially zero with Linux. In fact, when printing to our Brother printers here in the office, anyone with Windows has to get someone with Ubuntu to print for them! On Ubuntu it works with zero config, on Windows, it always breaks.

Good luck finding printer driver and PPD file and all the manual config to get quality prints, sure Linux may print, but my exp was bad margins. man its so left out google dont provide downloads for it gdrive client. everything is hack or workaround . why do we do this again ?

You do know that most large scale print shops and printers have a Linux print server/controller built into them right?

@Jimmy9008 in your design, your normal Starwind nodes have one point of failure, no dependencies. But on the "other" nodes, without their own storage, they depend on the SAN, the switches, and themselves. Three points of failure, instead of one.

Why not put the drives directly in the nodes and avoid that? What's the reason to put their drives remotely?

Licensing from the sounds of it.
