I have cleaned malware, but never on a file server, or any other server in this respect. A pc, for repair, a compromised system hdd recovered, reimaged, but old image restored on another for inspection. There are so many hiding spaces even pc's are never trusted again after infection. Opening svchost's and other running processes never takes you to the process that is timed to show itself, and shut down. Searching every entry in even one process is a daunting task. Reliance on software to ferret out all the areas of attack implies the software can and will be ready for the zero day attack, the attackers have most if not all the tools we have to write code that gets around the products. You may stare a Microsoft entry in the face with no clue of it's true task - the many registry entry's, dll's, etc. Man I miss DOS.

Also to make sure the Backup is clean, that this is not something that has been a hidden but now 'discovered' process that has been running for weeks. Backup can be compromised. Most malware is considered a failure if it is detected, or on the other hand, needs to be detected for ransom, or just outright malice.

Thanks for Sharing this, I have a special person in my life, at work. I have circular referenced him, asked the relevant question, conversed, and asked rephrased relevant question. Guess what - 2nd time Truth.... He is easy to spot, when it concerns a lie, he crosses his arm's - I always wondered if he knew how that made him look - like he is protecting himself. From what? When he is not, he tends to sit open looks relaxed and even may smile. I find body laguage to be a great indication of a person's mental state and I am not sure why they don't see it also? I really enjoy Ted Talk's (Truth) and thanks for sharing this one (Truth). I am 8 feet tall (lie). HE HE.

What makes you so good? How do you do it? You can diffuse situations, reply to everything and have all the answers (I mean that in a good way, not cynical). I still say as I stated in the past, You are more than one person. You have to be, no one person is that good..... LOL. If you are one person my hat is off to you, however if you are a team,,, Still my hat is off to you! Maybe, they told another they had a 'solid' for this position in order to make a move on the target. Car sales, you look at something, always there is another buyer interested in this vehicle (maybe, maybe not) but knowing you are competing with another for the vehicle can entice you to buy. Job's work in this way also, I have been told I was 1 of 3 people selected to interview. Wow, Odds are stacked in my favor-- No one I know in this town can compete, I am a shoe in. OOPS my bad, letter ("picked someone more qualified"), what???? Give me his name, I need to have his phone number so when I am stymied, I can add him to my support group and ask him questions. (Actually) I answer Way more questions than I ask. Still, More qualified, give me a break. Yea, I hear you and it does not make any sense, maybe they don't mind training someone - and paying quite a bit less? I also am at a loss, but Once many moons ago in another life I worked in a parts department of a large dealership. I saw firsthand the dirty tricks salesmen (not all) used to urge customers to buy.... Kind reminds me of the hiring process for IT. Quick take it for less, there is anther serious candidate we are looking at. Bang, shot thru the heart.

I would be careful with initial admin passwords till you have a handle on how he/she tackles problems. It can be a pain correcting issues when 2-3 things are changed at the same time, and maybe not documented as well as you do it. If you have to go back, knowing where to go sure makes the battle a bit less hectic. Just my experience with teaching new employee's who may bump around in your system even with the well documented information you provide. Do you know his level of experience? For sure? I have had "Paper Techs" with certs, good at study and tests, but not at being inside or on an actual system. So I tend to err on caution, but if he/she is a performer then I have no issue allowing full access.

Once, A person said "at my job they are lazy, cruel, impatient. What should I do?". 1 Learn to be lazy, cruel, impatient - essentially 'learn' to fit in, or 2 find a job with people who have the quality's you would expect at a place of employment and learn from them. Never heard what happened, but hoped it was 2. Consider this learning experiment, people like to be important and throw their weight around. Give you hope, but are not really the end decision maker (obviously) and blindly go around affecting people in ways they cant imagine. Now, if you worked for this person and they continued in this way, how else do you think they could have made your life miserable. Consider how you felt, emotional rollercoaster, imagine how they felt - sure sounds like they were oblivious to this fact. With the little you have said they made you feel important 'key word they' and then took it away from you. If you were employed by them you may have to endure this rollercoaster while on their payroll. I wish I could say something that would make you feel better, but as you know I cant, but I could offer you a job and remove the offer. How would you feel then, and do you think I should have that kind of control over your feeling's. I don't. Please don't take this as being callous but remember, when it comes to other people's promises - all you have is hot air.

OOP's Proliant should be Presario, home machine. My Wife bought it for me as a gift. Proliants were at work, and workhorses they were. NT4 Days, replacing Novell servers left and right.

I still own a 200 hz proliant, in my garage somewhere, whole 6gb drive and all. Backplane made upgrade's a Compaq only design. Great proprietary machine that will never be more than it is.

Fusers that look like large print heads for heat/thermal transfer are used. One that is a film printer, and yes expensive, is the Gerber Edge, it uses film for a very clean output. On vinyl.

PCIe is good, but in most cases I have seen it is primarily for graphics, so it is designed for large data transfers to the bus, and transactions back seem to be for result based calc's. I would like to know more about PCIe, and its connection to the source, time to visit a Maker's site.
