Aside from the specs, the rackmount capability is definitely a plus.
I also like that there is no power brick. I hate power bricks.

SaltStack - Viewing output
For those of you who use SaltStack, What is your preferred method of viewing the output from your minions.
A simple example:
Let's say I want to check the disk space quickly on 100 servers, and then view the output in a readable format. What method do you use to do this? Eventually, I would like to build a simple web interface to view information/results from minions. But for now, if I would just want to do this through the CLI on the Master, and then view the results in a file, what would be the best way to accomplish this?

RE: Windows Domain join issue
OK, we have success!
Steps to resolve:
-
On the DC I was having issues with at the main site, I stopped the KDC Service (Kerberos Key Distribution Center Service)
-
Then I ran this:
NETDOM RESETPWD /Server: <Domain Controller Name> /UserD:<Domain Admin Username> /PasswordD:<Domain Admin Password>
- Rebooted the server.
After this, all of the strange event viewer errors in the DNS log, AD log, etc were gone. I can now successfully replicate across sites as well as join PCs to the domain. I'm not sure why this happened in the first place, but this fixed it.
Thanks for all the help!

Been a while since I had looked at Ubiquiti's store, but it looks like they're not bothering to show EdgeRouter 4 as an out-of-stock option anymore.
There is a lot of chatter on the forums regarding the website not displaying items properly. A UI person did confirm this on the forums. If you search for ER-4, it does show up, and it is in stock. A couple days ago, a UI person stated that they are in fact NOT EOLing the Edgemax line. (https://community.ui.com/releases/EdgeMAX-EdgeRouter-v2-0-9-hotfix-7/2693d34c-f878-45d3-90af-32da2b4895a2#comment/04920424-98a9-4d65-bad2-935f63edef12) About half way down the page.

Really want to go to this.
Wife already has a work conference that weekend.
(......goes quietly and sulks in corner.)
Doesn't that make it the perfect time to sneak away for a conference of your own?
Yes, it would be perfect...but 2 little kids at home say otherwise. It's not over yet...just have to see if I can recruit some grandparents for babysitting.

We have been very happy with Vultr. But we also use DO and are happy with them as well. But we have Linode, Rackspace and various others (HATE Azure) but other than that.
I've had a similar experience with Azure. I like Microsoft's 365 offerings in regards to email, etc, but their Azure stuff for servers is not where it needs to be. The interface in confusing at first glance, and they seem to have more issues than I want to deal with.

Udemy - Black Friday deals - $9.99
Just got this in my email. Udemy has a ton of courses on sale for $9.99. Specifically, I was taking a look at the Python course. https://www.udemy.com/ I have not used Udemy before. Are they worth it?

RE: FreePBX on VPS
I have to say, after playing with Vultr for a day....these guys are on point. Easy to use, ability to add a custom iso directly from a download link (i don't even have to download a large ISO and then re-upload it), and their lighting fast support responses have won me over so far. Their prices are pretty good too.

RE: Weekend Plans
Got my old Boxee Box "hacked"/updated with Kodi and Plex client. It's finally useful again and the interface is pretty snappy for an older box.
Now to continue ripping all of my DVDs to my Plex server. This may take a while.

@scottalanmiller A 6:15 drive is just a bit longer than the longest 2 hour each way after work I could do
Now, if I had a flux capacitor to power a DeLorean I might have to reconsider.
Dont forget the Plutonium....or garbage depending on which model you choose.

I've been reading up on Linode, Backspace, Vultr, and DO. Ideally, the ability to upload my own ISO (the FreePBX distro ISO) would be the easiest, but I am open to other options as well.
Almost no one allows ISO uploads, that's pretty rare and it pretty much rules out some of the best providers because they use Xen which is makes ISO uploads often impossible.
We use Rackspace and Digital Ocean for PBX handling and both have been good. We've been on RS for a very long time for that. But it is expensive these days.
The custom ISO upload feature in combination with snapshots, is a killer offering from Vultr. I can download an ISO directly from a website, install the server, make all of the customization that I want, snapshot it, and redeploy when necessary. From what I've found so far, they are win/win.

@scottalanmiller Meaning that if SSH is turned off, you only access it from console?
No, not only the console and we "never" use console access (admins don't get console access so that would be problematic, but we have some minor separation of duties there so effectively the console would only exist as an option in a break glass scenario where an admin like @Mike-Ralston escalated to either @art_of_shred or myself in order to get console access - I'm really the only crossover person) but we use Salt so there isn't need for login access at all (or we use Salt to turn it on at least.)
This is an interesting concept that I'd like to move to eventually. I need to get more up to speed with Salt however before moving to this route.
Idea for Mangocon 2017. Saltstack!
