    • TPM vs PTT

      Hi,

      I'm kind of confused, just discovered that TPM and PTT are 2 different security. The reason why I asked this is because I've been trying to setup Bitlocker on a Surface Book for almost a week, can't figure out why it doesn't prompts or lets you create a PIN. The reason is because new models like Surface Book's has the TPM chip embedded on their motherboards. Can PTT do that as well? I mean, I just checked my laptop and there's a PTT but I can't do Bitlocker on my laptop, it says incompatible TPM.

      Thanks
      Jeff

    • monitoring of Fortigate firewall

      Hi, new to this community and just want to start of with a troubleshooting discussion. I've started using Zabbix network monitoring and for me, it is a good product. I've installed Zabbix release 3.2 installed it together with its prerequisites and it has been up and running.

      Tried to add some of our servers since Zabbix already have templates for different OS. Up until I need to monitor our office's firewall. It is a Fortigate 100D, and as my research goes, it advised me to import its templates and do some modifications on some of the templates like doing value mapping, etc.

      I can now monitor the CPU, Memory and sessions of the FG100D except for the interfaces (WAN1, WAN2, LAN, etc). Did my research again and found out about this article

      https://github.com/jjmartres/Zabbix/tree/master/zbx-templates/zbx-fortinet/zbx-fortinet-interfaces

      Followed the instructions based on the URL but up until now, I don't see any interface monitoring on the host.

      Anyone did this before?

      Thanks
      Jeff

    • 3rd party/openvpn

      any suggestion for a 3rd party VPN. We've teste the following:

      1. ExpressVPN
      2. Astrill VPN
      3. HMA VPN

      Tried this 3 just wondering if there are others same or even better than these 3. Another thing is, a VPN software than can do split tunnel? Using the 3 VPN above, they're OK but I can't split the tunnel for a specific route, instead as a workaround we did some route add on the command prompt.

      Thanks

    • RE: OSPF uses

      @scottalanmiller

      so eventhough it is widely used in Big networks or Enterprise networks. Having said that OSPF is shortest path, in terms of connection convergence is one advantage of OSPF?

      Thanks

    • OSPF uses

      Hi, I'm trying to watch and learn more on the firewall and network side. Encountered a topic OSPF, learned the method of how to set it up but can you guys name some applicable uses of OSPF? I mean, there are a lot of routing protocols but when is the best time or when is it efficiently being used? what type or what network scenario?

      Thanks

    • comparison of network monitorings

      Hi, in my experience, I've seen different network monitoring like Cacti, Zabbix, WhatsUpGold, Paessler, and many more. Correct me if I'm wrong, Cacti being used almost in any ISP, I mean whenever ISP's customer asks for mrtg access, ISP provides a cacti graph. Zabbix, one of the best opensource and most commonly used by some enterprise, WhatsUpGold a paid application which has lots of features as well and add-ons, as well as Paessler. If you are to choose among these great products, what will you guys choose?

      Thanks

    • RE: unable to connect and manage Hyper V server on a Win 7 pc

      @scottalanmiller

      Actually there's no problem in upgrading my OS, the only problem is that I might need to create first a vm for my other apps to work. After this, I might proceed with the upgrade. Actually the purpose of setting up this Hyper V server is for my colleagues to practice on Windows Server VM's. But thanks for the inputs, another day and another learned input from tech gurus like you guys.

      Thanks
