    • RE: Backup solution for Windows

      Hi folks,

      Answering to the question why an end-user needs a backup with personal story and I think it makes total sense.

      A real end user story: My father in law is far away from IT and the problem is he thinks he is not. He does some really crazy things on his own and then calls me…

      When it is a software level (thanks to the Endpoint) it takes me a cup of coffee to roll back to the latest backup (I’ve already done it twice). I wish I could make a backup on a hardware level (since he likes to “clean” the motherboard from time to time…

      The funny fact that he does not even now its running – its “some where in the tray” and backup is performed to the WD 3TB NAS box I gave him to store the photos.

      I like to think that every IT guy is a one man shop for his family or close friends. What is easier: to restore from the backup or to deploy a new windows installation at your sister’s laptop looking for an activation keys stored somewhere and then installing some software she likes but can’t really say how its called (real end user story #2 btw)

      P.S. This year I got all my family with WD NAS boxes and VEB installed 🙂

      Are you looking into upcoming LTO7 release?

      Thanks!

    • RE: Veeam Renewal

      @Dashrender Quoting the licensing faq:

      You can swap your licensed sockets from one hypervisor to another at any time by contacting your Veeam sales representative. To facilitate the conversion, you can get a free temporary license file with the total number of licensed sockets for both hypervisors. This will allow coexistence of environments on the same backup server. This license file is valid for three months and can be extended upon request (for large socket-count environments only). Technical support for both hypervisors is included at no charge for the temporary license duration. Only customers who are current on support are eligible for swaps.

    • RE: Question About Veeam Endpoint Protection Recovery Media

      Hi folks,

      Its recommended to keep the recovery media per OS (32-bit and 64-bit) just because of the drivers, but:

      1. You can include additional drivers to recovery media during creation
      2. You can disable drivers collection from the OS during creation
      3. You can load the drivers while performing the Bare Metal Recovery
      4. You can disable the collected drivers being injected from Recovery Media during recovery

    • RE: Question About Veeam Endpoint Protection Recovery Media

      @IT-ADMIN I’d say two images x32 and x64 without any drivers included - minimum. You have to manually upload the drivers (and install them) during bare metal recovery then. However, thats not a big issue if you are using the USB stick - you can just drag and drop the storage and network drivers to any folder inside the recovery media.

      BTW we had some discussions on the forums check for creative workarounds: http://forums.veeam.com/veeam-endpoint-backup-f33/multiple-computer-recovery-media-on-single-usb-t29636.html?hilit=unified

    • RE: Question About Veeam Endpoint Protection Recovery Media

      @JaredBusch No, the configuration distribution is not supported. The only supported scripting option is to start the backup process: it works both for incremental rotated backup and/or standalone full backup.

      @JaredBusch
      True. VBR users have the global email reporting from v1, mainly this feature was requested by the end users without VBR repo.

      You may like new weekly scheduling options (including the resume of the missed scheduled backup) and of course, there are more improvements.
