      CIO.com takes a look at why ownClowd imploded so quickly. Key issues that they look at include losing their founder, having alienated their open source community and probably having gotten venture backers who did not understand the product, market or community. The article looks at the situation where the company may have been forced to make losing decisions by investors that didn't care about the viability of the company.

              ownCloud, Inc. the company that we have dealt with and know was gone immediately (twelve hours.) Literally the company just closed down and everyone was fired. So we have no contacts there now. All of the people that we knew are gone.

              ownCloud Germany is still limping along but has no communications channels as ownCloud Inc. handled all of that out of Boston. So no one has heard from them and there are questions about their ability to provide American services.
