I can recollect seeing discussion of Ubiquiti's EdgeRouters, but I can't for the life of me remember the model that packs the best bang for the buck on performance and features.

      Thoughts, suggestions, alternatives?

I'm not sure that there is one. It really comes down to what features and performance you need.

            Maybe the X then, it's about $50.

You want the ERX for almost all home users and remote offices.

You can use the ERL or ERPoE for head offices.

If you are actually routing a shit ton of stuff, you can get the ER Pro.

Ah, I couldn't remember if the X or the Lite was the preferred model for small/home networks. Any real benefit of choosing the Lite over X?

You want the X unless you absolutely do not need switch ports on the router.

So many users need only a couple switch ports and buying a separate dumb switch just for that is a waste.

Baltic is showing backordered until July

They have always been $50 + shipping. Amazon is typically $60 with free shipping/prime.

Yeah, it looks like B&H is running at ~$59 on backorder.

I pulled the trigger and just paid the extra to get it from Amazon.

You will want to update the bootloader on your ERX first thing.

This is separate from normal firmware updates.

You can, but the price is the same as established vendors like BalticNetworks and DoubleRadius. So, all things considered, I would trust their distribution better than UBNT.

will the Edge router X power my old unifi AC (POE+) or will it only do Passive POE meant for the upstream WISP AP?

Looks to be passive POE only.. Sad.

Was considering condensing my setup. I have a Edge Router Lite, and a SG-300 24 POE+ switch at home.

The ER-X will not power anything. It is strictly a pass through.
