What the Poo and Moderation of Swearing

I am not sure if people are more broadly offended, or just we cater more to the minority that are offended, period.
Good point, that's probably more accurate.

Narf... ok, your point

I a only able to read some of this. There is a community guideline against swearing. Been there since day one.
I do not moderate all swear words but on a few other moderators advice i did need for it to be stated that we shouldn't allow it.
I cant find it from my phone but take a look at the guidelines.
I will read all this through more carefully later when its not on my tiny screen.

I was initially surprised by the title change without a comment. I do understand why it's beneficial to the community to have more PG headlines.
I also think the submission's title could have been phrased differently (adding additional words) to reflect the contents of the discussion.
I'm extremely surprised that GitHub even allows that project's name.
There was some discussion on just that - why would you name your project that,.. and why was it allowed. And while I have not gone and looked, is it even still available?
Every person will have their own take, their own opinion and own way to phrase a thread title. You want it to be something that draws a person to read and contribute, but not point them off..

This thread is a good example of changing headlines, when did crap change to poo? I don't care much for either word, but it changed without a moderator comment. I doubt there's mod logs, but transparency is neat
As shown in the first message of this thread - there is Mod logging. Few are able to see that. Maybe the headline was changed but the person who started the thread ( @scottalanmiller ) - you have the ability to do that to any over your own topics.

It wasn't moderated, I change it like the second that I posted.

There is, actually! They are not complete though, which is weird, but they do catch renames consistently.

In social settings, I do swear (curse as we call it in the south). However, I think f*** and b**ch are totally inappropriate to use anywhere you consider professional.
I am not saying I've never said f*** at work, but when I say it in passing during frustration it is quickly forgotten. I try never to use it on websites that I consider professional and related to my career. When you say it in person when it's needed it makes sense, but since it isn't recorded it's completely forgotten.
Also I know people that use f*** just as common as they would use any other word. While I don't see anything wrong with it morally, it really decreases the value of the word. If you say f*** 30 times a day, it no longer means anything, but if you use it once a month or so when it is appropriate it carries more weight.
I agree with @scottalanmiller and believe f*** and b**ch should be moderated. Words that some consider swear words such as sht and dmn should not be moderated in my opinion. If the word damn offends you, you are going to have a shitty life.
P.S. I did not see the original thread, so I am just giving my opinion in general.

Thread itself was perfectly fine. No one questioned that at all. It was all about the thread title.

Or maybe NodeBB needs to fix a bug... On mobile it's still showing me the old name in the alerts :P. That's been a lot of my confusion between these two topics.
Oh, weird. I was wondering how you even knew about the original topic name as it was only there for ten seconds, tops.

I wouldn't post in my own thread that I changed a title name. Just wouldn't be something I could consider needed.

Literally this just popped up on my FB feed from SW's old moderator:

Yeah, I swear lots in life (ex-mechanic, nuff said? :P) but never in a professional setting, there's a time and a place, and I can filter things easily enough...I use several forums, and mod a few, I don't think an open forum should have excessive cussing for the sake of it personally...you can get a point across without it, same with life when I talk to certain people, I know to engage filter before mouth opens

@coliver No... older mod.
