How I get ready for an Epic Road Trip

Then I need to verify all Iphones, Ipads, apple watches etc. are fully updated and have all necessary chargers.
Of course there is the packing (you are not getting a pic of my suitcases believe me you don’t want to see that disaster).
Art_of_shred is busy packing up all the servers etc that Scale Computing, Xbyte and Unitrends have donated to the NTG LAB. All of the equipment will be going to a Colocation America datacenter. Colocation America reached out to us at NTG and are donating a year of service. It will be really cool to evaluate and be sharing our Lab with IT Pro’s all over the world.
So back to the point of this post EPIC ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!
Epic Road
We will be starting out in little old Western, NY working for a couple days down in Salisbury, NC then will start the drive along i40 (aka a bit of Route 66) all the way to CA. Have IPhone app will travel. Found a cool Route 66 sites app so will be trying to stop at as many weird trading posts, World’s largest ball of barbed wire and anything else that is weird and quirky.
I will be taking lots of pics with some fun gear from each our Partners listed above and of course just for fun, crown and all (hmm wonder if I have room for my scepter?).

Happy Friday… or not?

Woke up, at 5:00am, to the sound of heavy rain this morning. Commence the running around the house to close windows. Climb back in bed, after all who wants to be up at this ungodly hour?
Try and fall back to sleep, no luck, puppy number one jumps up to cuddle. Ok I give up, wonder what’s been going on over night. Grab the trusty cell phone and, oh look there are emails. [ Piece of advice NEVER open your work email in bed at 5:00am on a Friday morning. Nothing good came come from this, please take my advice, learn from my mistakes people! ] Sure enough there are a couple emails one from the car rental company and one from the hotel we will be staying at Sunday -Tuesday. Wanna guess what they both said?? I dare ya!
You guessed it they both cancelled our reservations for various reason!!! double-facepalm-through-face-i0
Panic fly out of bed out to the computer and start the search all over for a new vehicle (no one wants to drive their personal vehicle full of servers all the way across the whole US) 6,000 miles in 2 weeks. I did find one, and it was local, but double the price, oh well it is nice and close, so that is something at least. Hotel was much easier and less stressful. But really? This is not a good sign for the start of our trip.
Last conference call for the next two weeks is out of the way. Now on to the finish packing phase. Art_of_shred is currently packing up and stacking all the servers and switches.
Pretty soon we will be off to pick up the Mini Van we rented and get it all packed up. Tonight Art_of_Shred has band practice and a gig he wants to go to tonight (not his, a buddies). Tomorrow we have a bit of running around to do to finish getting ready, and to make sure the semi-adult and puppies living here won’t starve to death while we are gone. -

At least you'll avoid the torture of I55. That's a lot of cement roadway, and tiny little bounces all-day-long. Even in an air ride seat it was torture, and let's not think about the fun of trying to keep from "bouncing" the gas or break pedal as well.

We have been on the road about 15 minutes (had to finish my breakfast before i could post). We finished the jigsaw puzzle and even had a little space left.

We need to calculate the amount of storage in that van and the time to get to California. This is one of those moments that the van might be faster than the Internet.
100TB in seven days....
