    Is Edx.org worth paying for certs

      So https://www.edx.org has a wide range of course offerings and a large portion of offered for free. Only if you pay, do you get a digital certificate of completion "with a passing grade".

      Has anyone ever asked for proof of a cert in any hiring managers experience or is it all based on interview, resume, and response when looking at it.

      Have any of you taken any of the courses offered here? Any other online learning resources that could be use?

        i took the intro to linux course but didnt pay for the cert of completion. You still get a certificate but its not "verified"

          I always find it weird when systems admin "stuff" is mixed in with computer science. I took a few free classes through this in the past but never anything technical. One of them had to do with anthropology.

            Or as we from CS programs say... that's a scam. It's "filler" hoping that CS students don't realize that a cheaper to deliver class displaced what they had paid for.
