I mentioned this to @scottalanmiller when I was considering moving back to Hyper-V.
He didn't seem to think direct support of XS by OMSA was a big deal, so hopefully he'll chime in and comment.
Why would this be a big deal? You've already got a few free management platforms for XS. From my understanding, I've never used it, OSMA is designed to manage the underlying hardware.
And more importantly, the support needs to only exist for RHEL, not XenServer.
For now. Once support for 6 is gone, what's XS going to do?
RHEL 6 will be supported for a very long time and 7 for a super long time. I don't see much risk there.
Not that much longer. Phase 2 ends next year and complete EOL is 2020.
But don't we expect Dundee in months? Not.. you know, half a decade?
Not sure of their timeline. I was just making a point that 6 won't have support for "a very long time." 3 1/2 years is not a half a decade.
Looks to be over four years...

Is my math wrong? 2020:11 - 2016:5 = 4years and 6 months yet of support? That's 4.5 years on the nose.

Still though, 4.5 years isn't that long. Considering it too almost 2 just to get from XS 6.2 to 6.5. But all this is moot anyway. I didn't realize Dundee was built on 7.
They probably packaged manually before so I'm guessing not much has changed, it's just you can get Xen from the repos any more with RHEL. You have to do some work.

There is really no way that they could not jump to 7 with the 7 release of XS.Don't forget that the stagnation in the 6.2 era was because of the Citrix to Linux handoff.

They have mentioned that upgrades will be possible. But that XS only know about XS configurations, so third party software will not be migrated with it.

I wonder what the VM migration process will be. If you have have 6.5 and 7.0 in the same pool then installing a clean hypervisor and Dom0 would make the most sense.
