QuickBooks install error
-
I had QuickBooks 2013 installed on a Windows Server 2008 Terminal Server. I tried to install QuickBooks 2015 and I'm getting an error when I try to launch it for the first time. At the end of the "QuickBooks Product Configuration" I get the error "An error occured while attempting to reconfigure your new edition of QuickBooks. You must temporarily return to your previous edition by reinstalling it fom the original CD..." I tried putting the old version on as it suggested and that didn't help. I also tried removing all the QuickBooks files in various directories to do a clean install. I haven't run msconfig to disable all non microsoft stuff, but I have disabled antivirus. It doesn't seem to make a difference if I launch the "Install Application on Terminal Server" from control panel.
  Any ideas?

 Maybe this?

The error is attempting to install QB
-
Sounds like a QB bug. Time to engage Intuit support.

@scottalanmiller said in QuickBooks install error: The error is attempting to install QB Don't get me started. If it were up to me, we'd be back to using Peach Tree.
-
@scottalanmiller Intuit Support? is that an oxymoron?
-
no QBhelp.exe running. Tried Rename the EntitlementDataStore.ecml file Tried reinstalling QuickBooks. I'll have to try the selective startup later.
-
 Run it as Administrator?
-
Running as admin. I have been hesitant to call QuickBooks support since running on a terminal server is only support for Enterprise Edition and they have non for profit edition. Also if step one is to reboot the server, I can't do that right now. I guess I'll engage them and see where that goes.

Oh I missed that it is on TS. That might easily be the issue.

Log in to the VM's console and try to run it from there?
-
I tried logging in to the console and running as admin.

@Mike-Davis Selective startup for the win. Not sure what was stopping it, but when I installed it before, it never got to the part of the install where it asked about running updates. This time when I ran the repair, it did that, and then when I launched it for the first time, it completed the initial config.

Not sure on that one - it's after my time.
