Just received the following from ZeroTier via email... felt that we should post as there are many ZT users in the community and many discussing and considering it....

ZeroTier Central Updates: UI, Features, and Pricing

We've updated our ZeroTier Central network controller UI at my.zerotier.com with UI improvements and new features, and we've revised our pricing for hosted networks.

Billing is now per-account, not per-network. Paid accounts cost a bit more, but free account limits have been raised. The ZeroTier Central UI still looks mostly the same but it's received a major face lift under the surface: the browser "back" button now works, everything now has a bookmark-able URL, and we've fixed a number of issues reported by our users.

If you are an existing subscriber, the amount that you pay per month (total) will stay exactly the same. We're doing this as a "thank you" to those who have supported us to date. This discount will remain in effect as long as you don't cancel your subscription.

For new subscribers we've increased the price to $29.00/month (USD), but we've also increased the maximum number of devices for free accounts to 100.

We think this better reflects the difference between personal and business users, providing plenty of devices in our free version and charging enough for our business customers to justify adding new features and services and to support the continued development of the entire ZeroTier ecosystem.

Over the next few months we're going to be adding several new features for paid subscribers. The first of these is already live: device offline notification. Users with paid subscriptions can select a monitoring sensitivity for devices on their networks, and will receive e-mail (and SMS if configured) messages when a device goes offline. Next up are Slack integration, exit gateway as a service (ZeroTier One 1.1.6 will support full tunnel modes of operation), web and port forwards, finer grained permissions with groups and a permission control UI, integrated support tickets, and more!

If you notice any bugs or problems with the new UI, please don't hesitate to e-mail [email protected] and let us know. We'll fix them as soon as we can.

Along with our web UI and our subscription service, we have quite a bit more in the pipeline. Our iOS version is now in beta. If you want to try it out via TestFlight drop us an e-mail and we'll send you an invite. Major announcements on the Network Containers and Enterprise fronts are coming soon as well.

Summer of 2016 is shaping up to be an exciting time for us as we near our goal of being able to connect almost anything directly to almost anything else: mobile, desktop, servers, containers, embedded devices, and apps. To stay up to date you can follow ZeroTier news at our blog and on Twitter.

        The big pricing highlight is...

        • 100 User for Free
        • Flat $29/mo pricing for unlimited networks on an account rather than per-network pricing
        • No change for existing subscribers

That's actually great news for MSPs that use ZT with more than just 5 or 6 clients... But even then, being able to run networks of up to 100 devices for free is awesome too! That gives a good real-world test.

Now that's how you raise a price without making your customers feel used. 100 devices free per network is really very generous when you start comparing it to other options.

I already see the upgrade in my console, too.

@adam-ierymenko will all accounts have all features, or will some features be for paid accounts only?

@scottalanmiller Bummer, I can't afford $29/month just for personal use, but I would like to have all the features.

Guess I should have paid up earlier - I always was meaning too, but I kept forgetting 😞

Those features did not exist in the $4 plan, though. That's new stuff that just came out I believe.

You are correct. For those of us who have the $4 plan, as long as we don't cancel, we will get to keep our plan. Fortunately, I trust these guys more than I do Obama. lol.

Yeah the new features are new. The first is monitoring -- it'll e-mail and SMS you (if you set SMS number) if a monitored device goes offline. Other new features are in development and include things like exit gateway as a service, port/web inbound forwards into your network, etc.

Our thought is to build more value into the upgraded plans over time.

And a cool dashboard for network teams to watch!!
