The Altras have a HUGE toebox and extremely comfortable for longer runs where your feet might start to swell.
Interesting.. this is the problem I have with my latest pair of Nike's - the toe box is small.. .just walking hurts my feet. I typically wear size 12 normal - these are just small.
You should definitely give a pair of Altras a spin then, the extra room is amazing and they fit great otherwise. I like being able to "splay" my toes out when my foot strikes the ground, it feels a lot more natural than what you get from most other shoes. The Sketcher GoRuns are not joke either. I was skeptical about buying a pair until I put them on. They are so light it almost feels like they are not there. I've had them for a little over 5 months now and they are just now starting to really wear out to the point I shouldn't run anything over 2 miles in them.

Normally I try to restrict how much I wear my running shoes for anything outside of quality time on the pavement. These were so comfortable I got into the habit of basically wearing them all the time... And for some reason I seem to be extra abusive to my shoes.
Realistically, if you run regularly for less than 30 miles a week, you should be able to make them last for somewhere in the range of 6 to 8 months. If you don't run at all, the sky's the limit!

The place near me that sells that brand is a (SHOCKING) running shoe store. But I have been wanting to go there. Maybe I will check them out.
I wasn't crazy about the NB I bought, and like I said they start getting a terrible chemical smell, so I was looking for another high end running shoes.
I wear it for casual use. Not for running. I would die if I ran, probably. I played in a coached basketball game (I coach my 11 year old daughter) two weeks ago and my knee is STILL messed up.

Yeah... I tend to buy running shoes when I can. They are far more comfy than the $20 Walmart pair I'm wearing now... but I'm heck on shoes regardless... but if you see me running... you'd better run too... Something is probably chasing me.

I'm currently super proud of destroying a pair of running shoes for their intended purpose for the first time ever

Yeah, mine used to be like that...I'd consider 5 months badly made, If I'm spending upwards of £20, I want a year minimum :')

I'll accept 5 months for a basic pair of shows that I wear daily. Then again, I only own a single pair of daily shoes, so I have to wear them always.

Oh, I am certainly happy to get over a year, but I don't expect it most of the time.

I wear shoes out in 6 months but wear them for 1-2 years anyway..

Pretty much. The soles in my daily drivers have been rough for 3 months now.

OK I'm probably in this same boat. The pair I'm wearing now are over 1.5 years old... and I know my feet won't like me if I don't replace them before my summer trip with all the walking I'm planning... hence the post.

I went to the running store to look for these tonight. I ended up with a paid of Sauconys.
Thanks to the OP and their thread for inspiring me to buy new shoes.
