Chopping off their own feet....

@Huw3481 that links from ML to SW are allowed but not in the reverse doesn't sit well with me either. You are allowed to link answers and references from anywhere except here.
-
@scottalanmiller There has been no directive to mods to delete ML posts. That's a ridiculous state if it's a helpful post. You might as well delete posts that reference Technet, Petri or Experts Exchange.
Got any examples?
-
@Huw3481 no examples as they were all deleted. But we were told we'd have to pay for them to stay.
-
But I agree. This site shouldn't be a place to talk about other forums (in a negative way at least, positive stuff is fine.)

The only reason I've posted here is for clarification, otherwise it's a "oh, those nasty people at Spiceworks" comment.
I agree! Post like this irk me: http://www.mangolassi.it/topic/1561/something-fishy-with-sw-points/3

Touche.
I posted here to keep from exposing it too broadly to see if it was happening to anyone else. But probably best to call it out to everyone.
-
At least it is far better and most honest posting here. They see every posted and nothing is secret it hidden. It's far better than having a secret posting area. Often posts have gone here to allow a conversation to happen without overly advertising it to the world. But the secret groups to have conversations that only select people can see... That's a much bigger issue.
But the bad things that other communities do is no excuse to sink towards their level. So you are both right. In the spirit of avoiding their mistakes, we should definitely avoid anything approaching that style of behavior.

Here you go, posted over there too....

Nice!

I know this is an old thread, but I'm not understanding RAM's POV. He seems to be saying because another site doesn't have a private chat room in a private forum, he prefers another site that doesn't have private chat-rooms or private forums.
-
@IRJ Could it be that they avoid you for other reasons? No offense, but maybe it's not the fact that you are here that makes you unpopular there. It could be other things that have caused this. And with your last post in SP's, I don't think you're winning many friends. And this probably goes for alot of us. If we are here venting about them, it's probably going to effect our attitude over there and our disdain is going to be transparent.

I had to read that eight times to figure out what was said. Lol

I feel like I miss a ton not being in the SP. Not being in it you get a feeling that a ton of discussion only exists there. When I was there it didn't feel like it was all that much. But that's probably because I was part of it. Now I feel like I miss tons.

What you're missing is IRJ bitching about mods with no justification,
A post got deleted, IRJ called the mods about it, even though he admitted that the OP had deleted the post themselves, but apparently that's all the mods fault.
As a current mod I don't like getting called on rumour, hearsay and personal viewpoints.
I am entitled to my opinon.
Obviously my opinion matters to you alot since you haven't posted here in 2 months but thought it was appropriate to come here just to post this. Either you frequently troll this forum or somebody tipped you off to this thread. Either way, I am impressed

I personally don't care what people think. I have never had alot of friends on SW

Yes , a whole thread of bitching about mods because a poster deleted his own post.
That is correct.
Basically, I saw a thread and I was typing a message on it to reply to thread and then it got mysteriously removed. The page said something like this has been removed because it went against community guidelines. So I posted in SP about it. When I posted in SP, I messaged the OP my my reply and then he told me he deleted it by accident.
So, the message stating that it was removed because it went against the guidelines was incorrect and it led me to believe it was removed. Threads have been unjustly removed from SW before so I don't think I was too out of line. Most say I was, but I got 2 spices.

Really dude? Thanks for policing the internet. You make me feel all warm and safe inside.

Please keep it nice people! ML is here for you to share your IT knowledge and help each out out. We really are trying to be careful about trashing other sites etc. @scottalanmiller actually wrote a post about this last weekend. http://www.mangolassi.it/topic/1570/dealing-with-discussions-of-other-communities

Rob,
I know you mean well..
I don't know RAM's story but I will take a punch for him since I am taking quite a few already.
He has every right to his opinion. You don't have to agree with it. From what I understand, he was lead on by the Orange Guys about a job offer. I don't know much more than that so I can't really say anything else.
-
I absoultly never said he didn't have a right to his opinion. I was unclear as to what he was trying to say> I've since talked to him online, and we're goo.
