Rooted.... pending verification. I don't have internet access at the moment on my tablet (no wifi here)
Root checker is saying no root access, but I have Super SU installed. So am i bit confused if it is rooted or not. I will continue testing when I get home.

My Chuwi is still running strong. I love this device. I am working on rooting android on it.
I am also thinking of doing a Linux installation to do a triple boot boot Windows, Android, and Linux.
Thanks for bring this up again. I guess though I need to hold off on some Amazon and Adafruit orders for a spell so I can put this in the purchase queue
Chuwi has some higher end devices in the $200-300 range that look pretty nice. I might upgrade soon, but I will definitely keep my little workhorse now. I am considering putting Kali Linux on my current device. Who knows how much of a mess the drivers will be, but I will see.

Yeah, that was one of the use cases I was thinking about. Maybe dual-boot with Kali and Gentoo

I am going to work on Kali and do a writeup on my blog.

Sorry, need to write and translate at the same time. I'm owning a device that looks very similar. Doesn't work on most USB host controllers without a external power supply.
-
These are working great:
No USB-hub and no micro USB, but they are working even on Pi's and NUC's without any power issue.

Those are pricey in the United States. About $40 with shipping
Hmm... Now I see that these NICs aren't as easy as just plug and play. I am going through some others on amazon and seeing that some work with raspberry pi, but won't work in android or linux.

Was just an example. Look for something with a similar casing (sharp edges in this case). These devices are often OEM'd, so you may get the same chipset with another label.

I can see the need for the extra USB ports, but why a Ethernet port?
-
For plugging into a switch? Seriously, that's a cool device for simple things like SSH and so on. And - for example - if you need to go to a branch site with broken WiFi...

We don't even have WiFi where I work. Plus it is nice sometimes to just connect to the network.

Something like that, and maybe even one with a serial adapter... then you could manage switches and all with it too... I think I may have found my next gadget accessory!

True - Broken wifi you'll need it.

Wohoo!!! Android Root is successful

I am working on a method to boot Kali from USB. The blog I am following is in spanish, but google translate is helping with that barrier. So hopefully I will have an update on this soon.

Hehe. That's always great. Installed an ADS-B frontend from a Russian dev not long ago. Google translator and my trainee from Macedonia (who speaks a very little bit of Russian) both saved my day

I didn't get a chance to finish working on the Kali Linux install. Hopefully I can work on this tonight.
