I am downloading the VHDX appliance. It is taking forever.... 😞

      Isn't that v8.2.2?

May want to check that and make sure, lol.

@IRJ: If you are using Apache + ownCloud, the setup is really not that bad. You could install Ubuntu (or CentOS) and get it set up in less time that it would take to downloda the VM, lol.

Is this the guide you used?

      https://doc.owncloud.org/server/9.0/admin_manual/installation/command_line_installation.html

      There is this one.
      http://mangolassi.it/topic/6938/install-owncloud-8-x-on-centos-7

But it will likely pull 9 now.

I used the packages that they built... https://download.owncloud.org/download/repositories/9.0/owncloud/

Then just click your Distro and it gives you the instructions.

Edit: By using their packages, upgrades can be done easier.

But it's not quite dead either. There are many subtle levels of dead.

I just published our upgrade blog which I highly recommend to read before you upgrade.

The forums have a good topic on 9.0 too.

                          Enjoy 9.0!

Yeah, we keep hardening oC so you get more and more warnings... But you also get a more and more secure system if you do what they suggest 😉

The docu should be up, if you bump in missing links, pls let me know!

Those warnings are silly in 8.2. Things like saying that I have no internet access

Edit: here is what my 8.2 panel shows on a fully updated CentOS7 install.

                            0_1457465081332_upload-0bc32892-b91f-44e2-a649-04be7208baaf

The 'no internet' error, just like many others, does come only when there IS a problem - so are the other warnings 😉

I strongly suggest to take the security issues very serious, and no memory cache (performance) and PHP version (performance AND security) are also very useful warnings.

Isn't it better to know about these problems than not?

you probably miss some PHP plug which allows LDAP. "php7-ldap" it is called on my openSUSE system.

It's LTS version vs 9 month support.

Ubuntu 14.04 is a full three versions and two years old (14.10, 15.04 and 15.10 have replaced it and 16.04 is just a few weeks away.) PHP7 is very new, I doubt that Ubuntu 14.04 supports it.
