New Raspberry Pi 3

In resume, more Cpu, Wifi and Bluetooth 4.1 included keeping the same price.

  • Cool!

    Quad core...

    • A 1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU (~10x the performance of Raspberry Pi 1)
    • Integrated 802.11n wireless LAN and Bluetooth 4.1
    • Complete compatibility with Raspberry Pi 1 and 2

  • I went ahead and ordered one this morning. I would like a zero instead, but I can find some use for this until I can get a zero. I have a few projects where a zero's size would be quite useful.

  • Are you kidding me with those specs at the same price? God I love Raspi.

Are the zeros unavailable right now?

Welcome to MangoLassi, by the way. I know you've been here for a bit, but this is your first post 🙂

  • I think I'm going to order one of these. I am seriously thinking about building my own arcade machine and this would be an awesome first step.

I've wanted to do that for forever, of course now with all of the travelling there is no good way to take it with me. I want a full stand up cabinet. But I think something more powerful than this would be good. I think that the ARM architecture will be limiting if you want anything newer emulated.

Yes. If you want specifically a Retro arcade cabinet though it's fine. Here is a great tutorial tutorial.

I saw that recently. A great maker channel I follow.

I recently built my uncle an x86 version. It will play everything up to N64... but the control sticks leave it a bit wonky.

I wanted to do the retro pi setup with the pi zero in the controller itself. A pi zero would also work better in my picture frame than my B+. It's my alarm clock right now. Then with their price point, I could try other things on a whim, if they were more available.

Oh that's cool. I just put an Arduino into my arcade stick as a led controller. Let me know how that goes ^_^

Thank you, I've been just kind of creeping around since you convinced me to sign up from spiceworks. I'm generally not very active in forums, but I am liking the community here.

  • Just got mine ordered. Should be here in about a week.

  • Just shipped.
