So the build went smoothly, but I'm not understanding why sde is showing up as below.

      The array is listed as

      active, degraded

So the question is, why would it successfully build the array with a bad disk, and how do I replace the defective disk.

So in digging deeper into this...

But again, why would it build a RAID10 array if the 4th disk was bad?

Sounds to me like the drive probably didn't make it through the initialization. Do you have another you can replace it with?

            No none in stock.

Because I already have backups I'm pulling the disks out and wiping and performing a disk check on each.

I agree, sounds like the drive has failed.

Of course, this means I'll have to rebuild the Hypervisor.

I've always wanted to spin up a VM for each HDD to test and have them all test simultaneously. Would be glorious.
