Skype is our go to. Screen sharing is the least jittery and has the least amount of delay. We have been really happy with it.

We're still stuck with WebEx and a really old version of Team Viewer for 1 client who remains behind the times.

We mostly use Skype and Skype for Business. We don't do a lot with third parties, though. Join.me is free but only so so.

Hmmm, since I already have O365 Essentials, and Skype for Business comes with that ... perhaps that's the ticket.

Is that a direct WebEx competitor?

I use the hangouts app for SMS and hangouts messages. Most of the communication between my wife and I is via hangouts messages on the phone. You can mix hangouts messages and SMS in the same thread. It's kind of nice. Similar to imessage.

Skype for business will only work for screen sharing if the other party also has Skype for business.

Ugh... join.me sucks! We're using Screen Connect for remote work (works very well), and Skype for internal stuff like screen-sharing and presenting. Skype for Business is ok, but it has a number of limitations that make good old Skype a better option. I use WebEx for a number of things, and for the most part, I like it. I think I like Skype better, though, as it's not as complicated to use and doesn't really have a reason to be. I know you can record on WebEx. Not sure about Skype. Never tried. And LMI priced itself out of the picture, and with no advantage, as the service went downhill anyway.

Ah, so that would not work.

This would be to screenshare/present to multiple people around the globe, whom we do not have control over.

So, no plug-in viewer like WebEx?

Being owned by LMI kind of explains why join.me sucks. I'm surprised it's still free.

I do presentations etc. with people all over the world. Regular old Skype has been the most reliable over all. WebEx is ok but has issues more often than I have had with Skype.

Bosses like it. I don't use it at all, it's mostly for our support staff and for doing sales demos. As for Team Viewer, I wish we could drop that client altogether (the last XP machine here is used only to connect to their archaic system). They are a very poor, rural county in Alabama, but they were like our 1st or 2nd customer ever, so sentiment keeps them onboard.

We're not in the position to tell them to sign up for that. WebEx and the like have easy plugins, as you know. 🙂

And WebEx is annoying on Linux.

And regular skype doesn't have the weird issues with Lync/Skype for Business phone clients.

I remember we had a MS hosted online meeting once, and it was a real bear to get it to work. So I hear you.

The WebEx is pretty cheap for what we need. Perhaps that is just the way to go.
