Onedrive is shrinking

And thus my core issue with cloud anything - if you don't own it, you don't control it & whoever does holds the whip hand.
I can kind of understand the free accounts, but the paid accounts? I guess Microsoft is using LMI for their support, maybe they picked up some other tricks from them.

I use PLEX for my media and may fall back to my WD My Cloud for my personal and controllable cloud.

That's a real bummer. I have close to 9TB data there, now I have to figure out where to move it. But the move is on par with Logmein. In the end, it's Microsoft that's losing a customer.
Amazon, here I come. -

@scottalanmiller How much is storage on Amazon?
-
@dafyre Amazon Cloud Drive is unlimited for $60/year.

It gets better, how do they know what people are actually storing? Wasn't the content suppose to be encrypted? Why are they looking at people's files?
I knew better when I signed up, so most of my data was encrypted before uploading, but this makes me not want to do any business with Microsoft ever again. -

Amazon Drive is $59.99 a year, unlimited too.

I knew better when I signed up, so most of my data was encrypted before uploading, but this makes me not want to do any business with Microsoft ever again. They could know file types and still be encrypted. The file type could be in meta data.

It's been good. I started using it in March.

"CLOUD DRIVE IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS.
Unfortunately Cloud Drive is not responding at the moment. We are working on this and Cloud Drive will be back as soon as possible."This is what I get at Amazon Cloud Drive page. Apparently, a lot of folks are probably migrating

Good except when you want to move 200gb of data in one shot (sooooo slow), or if you have more than 100,000 files to move (it waits a couple of hours before it errors out). Is it cheap and abundant? Yes. Is it in any way acceptably fast? NOPE.

I'm considering moving to this...an Amazon Music, leaving Groove Music. And perhaps a FireTV. (no not going ALL IN on another ecosystem but I've always liked what I can get from my Amazon Prime membership.)

Not surprising. They are having a field day over there.

Hmm... Food for thought...
Still thinking about this... If my hard drive dies and I re-install Amazon Cloud Drive (ACD), will it download all the files back to my computer, or can I just leave everything parked in ACD and just start adding stuff back to it?

It's just storage, not a backup system.

@scottalanmiller Right. My question was more along the lines of does it Sync files like Drop Box?
With DropBox when I log into the client from another computer, it immediately starts downloading everything... I'd rather have something that will just let me keep dumping files into it, or download just the ones I need.

No, you just upload stuff to it and download what you want.

The app doesn't sync anything, it just allows you to upload and download.

Well, that's just crap.
I don't have too much in there but I have been adding more stuff to it regularly.
Ā
In order to satisfy my knee-jerk reaction, I'm looking for a new provider.
This doesn't mean I'll change but it's not out of the question.
