Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play

  • Still* hooked on WarThunder - it's fun!

    Youtube Video

*1201h game time played.... oh god.

  • I've been playing Telltales The Walking Dead season 1, but it freaks me out so much that I can't play it for very long. I just finished all of the available episodes of Game of Thrones from them, and dying in GoT is so much less scary! I'm hoping that I will be better at the game play in TWD now. I really like the format, but it seems odd to include tasks that are so hard to complete just because of the controls in a story telling game. If there was an option to make it easier to target for those of us that don't like the whole "it's hard because the controls suck, not because it's actually hard" the games would be much more enjoyable for me, as it's how my decisions affect the story that I find enjoyable.

Have you tried The Wolf Among Us? I'm going to pick it up during the next Steam sale. Looks fantastic.

At a minimum Steam needs to be checked every Monday and GOG every Friday. You'll still miss things but you will catch the majority.

  • keep an eye on reddit.com/r/gamedeals and that will save you checking every site.

  • Realized I just spent a bit of money on the Delta Green kickstarter. So that's probably where my free time is going to be as they keep releasing new PDFs almost everyday.

    Delta Green kickstarter

I would like to find one to play... but it seems I just don't have the skill / knack for them. I played World of Tanks for a bit, and even Warsow,.. but both were paced more than I could seemingly take.

We have MC on the xBox - which again I don't play. Last game I was really good at was Space Invaders on the Atarii 2600....

Delta Green isn't a video game, it is a table top RPG based on the Lovecraftian mythos, really interesting (to me) stuff.

I hear you on the pacing. You should really look at the Telltale Games'... games. The Walking Dead was phenomenal story telling, and I've heard the same is true for both The Game of Thrones and A Wolf Among Us.

lol...I wonder if I could get away with installing it on my work PC.... Think @Minion-Queen would notice?

From what I've heard about NTG it is all but encouraged (it may even be encouraged). You don't need a lot of horse power for these games. They have Android and iOS, I think, versions as well.

  • I'm surprised that we do not pre-install Steam and GOG Galaxy on every PC 🙂

You should check out a Telltale game. They have a great story and minimal action.

  • Lots of good Telltale options too. From horror to sci fi to pirate comedy to weird internet shows to fantasy to comic books to movie adaptations.

  • If you try just one Telltale game, do the first Walking Dead one.

  • I just nabbed the Humble Capcom bundle... Not really sure why... But I do miss Bionic commando, lol... Well did. 🙂

  • My favorite story-based games:

    1. Life is Strange
    2. Wolf Among Us
    3. Walking Dead Season 1 (never played 2)

Those are the only ones I've played, which I really need to change!

In my opinion, Telltale set the bar high for the "Branching Story Adventure" genre (??) and Square Enix has recently raised it with Life is Strange. My favorite change by Square-Enix is the removal of the "click here quickly or something bad will happen!"-style quick time events that occasionally felt out of place for me in the Telltale games.

  • My favorite story based game is To the Moon. It's basically a visual novel with a few puzzles, but the story is as good as any sci-fi story I've read or watched a movie of. Get it, play it, love it.

    I have them all!

    Pokemon?

  • ha, you are lucky that I get that reference, I am way too old to have seen Pokemon.

  • @scottalanmiller You have two young kids... No... You've seen it at least once or twice... and maybe even liked it... Aww, come on... admit at least that it could have been worse... much, much worse...

  • Nope, I've never seen it in person and I don't think that my kids are aware of it.

  • @scottalanmiller Consider yourself lucky, ha ha ha ha.

Edit; The show isn't really terrible..... I'd rank it mildly enjoyable for adults, lol.

    there is a show too?

  • ROFL. Yepp... Shows, games, the whole 9 yards... I'm sure you can find books too if you wanted to... However... if you haven't started... don't. Then you'll start collecting them like you collect games that you don't play, lol.
