@dafyre My personal fav was mount and blade warband. I used to play on 200 person servers. IDK if there is still a community though, it's been a while.
I see a lot of Mount & Blade sales on Steam, ha ha.
They're trying to boost popularity because they're prepping to release M&B2

@dafyre easily has some of the best fighting controls. Block directions are controlled by the user, making for some of the best dueling in a video game.
edit: it did For Honor, before For Honor. And includes one of the best single players ever.

Oldie but a goodie

@quixoticjeremy Combat in Chivalry is superior to MnB. The difference is comparable to difference between a chicken mcnugget and chicken cordon bleu.

Played a bit of Xcom and subnautica this weekend. Both are very good.

I keep eyeing Subnautica. I've already got XCom.

@nattnatt I'll add you tonight

@coliver I love it, but it's scary. I like how the devs focused on environment.

It's also probably one of the most beautiful games on the market right now. Really mesmerizing. Even at night when everything is spooky dark the little bioluminescent creatures really add to the atmosphere.
How far have you gotten? It took me forever to figure out how to get a knife and fins. Going to work on getting a few tanks next time I jump on.
-
@coliver You don't need multiple tanks. One extra, really, is more than enough. I have a cyclops and prawn suit made. I'm still exploring to mentally map out where stuff is. You'll want to make a lot of beacons!

Thanks for the advice.

@grey I played Everquest for 14 years before pretty completely getting away from it. A little part of me died when the RP died on Firiona Vie where I had always played. Some of the best RP I've ever seen/done in any setting was on that server over the years. I did the raid thing, actually completed all content up to the point at the time, and then slowly got out after selling my gear and making back every penny I had ever spent on the game and then a little bit (both subscription costs and game/expac costs).

@dafyre My old roommate from a few years ago actually had over 10,000 games in his Steam library as of like 2012. I'm sure he's gotten far more by now, as he had a habit of buying virtually every humble-bundle that came out, jumped on every significant steam sale, and still bought games he just wanted to play as soon as they became available. I can only imagine how many games he has now.. lol

I've got a few thousand, but I'm picky even about the super cheap and free games. I have so many that my catelogue on Steam is a problem to go through as it just bogs down even a fast computer.

@scottalanmiller I first played Seiken Densetsu 3 on a translated ROM about 15 years ago, and it's still one of the best RPGs I've ever played.
Another RPG series I'd love to see them port/remake is the original Phantasy Star games, which are not to be confused with the Phantasy Star Online games that blow goats. =P

OK! Now that I've spent like 3 hours reading this ENTIRE thread from start to finish, I feel like I can start posting stuff besides the occasional response to something lol.
Total War: Warhammer is absolutely FANTASTIC! If you like any of the other Total War games, the Warhammer installment will likely make you happy. Unlike the previous Total War games however, they made a huge point of having a giant campaign map that mixes elements of city-building and tech-progression as well as just generally improving the overall complexity of the game without making it too nutty.
All races feel well done, with some being very difficult and very different from the rest, while the staple faction options all possess a specific quirk that makes them interesting and unique compared to the others. I rarely buy games, but I let someone talk me into paying full-price for Total War: Warhammer, and for once in a very long time, I actually don't regret shelling out $50 for a new game. I've got almost 500 hours logged into the game now, and there are still over half a dozen factions I have yet to even play yet. Has a multiplayer mode that can be coop or head-to-head in both campaign mode, or battle mode. Battles can be auto-calculated, or can be manually fought in real-time, per the usual for Total War. I highly recommend it, I've not had that much fun with a new game in ages.
