We very well might be able to figure out how to do a video stream of at least some part of it!
Would be nice, adds a lot more "crew" requirements BUT it is very critical to have sessions recorded so maybe that all needs to be there anyway.
-
Yeah exactly what I was thinking we will be recording anyway so might as well....
-
Makes sense. Streaming does take quite a bit more work, it's a little like running a TV station rather than just doing filming. Although it does a lot to generate interest too, I would imagine.
-
Not everything will be streamed so if we had just one session room that was we could do that.
-
I'd volunteer to run a camera or three if somebody could get me down there (I doubt my employer would pay for this trip!)
-
We might be able to make that happen. Tons of planning to still do!

We could periscope everything. I don't know how many people use that or Meerkat

Twitch would probably sponsor it

I actually am going to be talking to LifeSize next week and see if they will help us out

Will need more than one session room though.

Not as silly as it sounds. But not quite the right platform either.

One thing that I don't like about conference streaming is that conceptually streaming is very different from conference attendance. Personally, even for conferences that I watch online, I much prefer that content be recorded for each session, cleanup and quickly posted online so that I can pick and choose. Sure, it isn't the same as "being there", but it can actually provide a better experience in some ways and is just as useful for those that attended as for those that did not.
If I was watching from home, I'd be nearly as happy if there was no live stream. Live is hard and expensive. Recorded is more useful and relatively cheap.
-
I was talking about living streaming. We will probably (if it is even feasible) only live stream one session room. Recording will be done everywhere for everything.
-
Okay, that works.

Has there been any forward progress on the planning of MangoCon? Any locations eliminated any that might have been solidified as a definite contender?
-
I think it is almost certainly Buffalo or the Buffalo surrounds for MangoCon 1.
-
I'm going to be running so tight on vacation - I'm hoping I can make it.

Maybe you can get work to consider it work time?
