For Windows, I use the ClamWin for some things... (it is decent at picking up hacked PHP scripts sometimes).

I'll have to give this one a shot... Avast is killing my computer right now.

Immunet (the paid version) has been a dropped project by Cisco. But the Public version is still available and updated, apparently.

@dafyre Avast: better than AVG selling your browsing history to the highest bidder :[

@MattSpeller I don't use AVG for the same reason that I'm trying to switch away from Avast.... It just kills the performance on my computer... big time.

I have a license from webroot... I just need to get off my lazy mumbled and do the work, lol.

@dafyre webroot worked a treat for my parents - it blocked all my games and I would have had to spend a significant amount of time to get it to behave for me.

@MattSpeller I already have it on my laptop. No issues with games at all for me... Of course, I have a few Steam Games and a GoG game or two... No issues so far.

@dafyre interesting, I wonder why it blocked all mine (steam games and actual steam included)

ah well, maybe I'll give it another shot if I get another free license

Give it a shot if you want. I can load it up on my computer here at the house in a little bit if you want.

We use Webroot, haven't seen that issue yet. Lots of Steam users here.

If you are looking for free, what about Avast for Business?

I have that on a few boxes here, and boy it sure likes to turn off the real time protection randomly. And it's super bloated... but it is free.

Yeah that's what we might be settling on for our non-server devices. I'm still trying to build a decent way to work around this.

There are people wanting to greatly reduce all cost, which oddly includes the protection of our systems, so maybe a mixed environment including the free cloud platform for desktops and laptops, and a paid solution just for the servers.

                                        Oh, that's not very useful.
