GPP Favorites setting applied to Default user not logged in user
-
I have GPP adding 8 shortcuts that are assigned to go to %FavoritesDir% which I would naturally assume to mean the favorites folder of the user who is logged in.
Instead they are going into C:\users\default\favorites.Additional information: I am redirecting favorites for everyone in this GPO to \servername\users$%username%\favorites This part is working correctly.

OK I solved this. I can't push out user things in the computer GPO - duh! The policy would be applied before the user even logs in. I was getting hung up to much on the fact that you could even do it in the computer policy. I've moved them all to my User GPO.

Sometimes all that matters is taking the time to talk through it.

The process of writing stuff down for others is a great way to get a new perspective even if the others never see it.
