It is included in my rent. Along with my pool guy, house maintenance and maid service.
Mind if we ask what that runs?

Rent? We are paying $1,200. It's a luxury tourist rental. Good price for that, we have a whole staff of people that maintain the place for us. We see at least three different people, at least one of them three times a week! And we are right in the tourist area. And things like Internet is included. It's a cost premium for the kind of place that it is.

What kind of internet speeds do you have and what kind of speeds would be available?
-
I just finished reading through all the posts I missed. I was passed out for 12 hours...I was exhausted. It's an interesting idea for sure.

Great ping speed and 2/1 is not so bad for "free included" Internet. No idea what is available, though. I've not spoken to any ISPs.

From wikipedia:

Looks like 4Mb/s is $50/USD per month.
-
4Mb/s is probably more than enough for an Internet cafe. He could probably trim that down. Especially if he put in a cache of some sort too.

This thread is a joke, right?

Remember that there are not really much in the way of seasons here. It's roughly even all year.

Hateful heat all year? Uggh. I become homicidal during the hot summer in ATL, but there is at least the relief of autumn.

The heat never ends, this is Central America near the equator.

Nope
You honestly think AJ could handle this?

It's specifically an idea to address AJ's needs:
- Learn business context so that he can learn to appreciate the needs of an employer and what they face as issues rather than seeing the world from a purely "tech" perspective.
- Direct feedback that he cannot avoid rather than filtered feedback as employees get.
- Leverages what he enjoys doing: end user tech and support. The very aspects of Staples that he likes without the parts that he doesn't.
- Putting AJ in a market where his skills are rare and needed.
- Low overhead. The cost of failure is very low.
- Awesome potential lifestyle if he pulls it off.
