What are some value adds to using T-Mobile over AT&T?

Sorry to hear that. We will see how my experience is now that my old phone is dead and a new one is on its way. Every new phone means a new roll of the dice as far as... well everything. So maybe I will get bad service this time.

That would do it. Same kind of pricing that I was seeing when on Verizon. I was with them for forever. Got my account in 1992 and kept it until 2013. Twenty one years on the same account. When they introduced the "loyal customer $30 penalty" I turned around, walked out and went right to TMobile and have never felt any "leaving a long trusted vendor" was ever so good. I've been so thrilled with my phone situation ever since doing that.

$30 Loyalty Customer fee? Is that a line item, or are you talking about the $30 activation charge when you upgrade your phone?

Nope, it was a line item. I was like " a LOYALTY FEE!!!!". And out the door I went.

No, but I'm on AT&T now, and Verizon and AT&T were only $10 difference when I made the switch.

Verizon has gotten cheaper recently but not by much. We have 6 phones and 3 mifi packs and it's about $400/month for 20 gigs data.
That doesn't surprise me, my 2 phones before discount on AT&T are $190 with one phone on payments (but no contracts).

OK it's Verizon's plan that brings them out of the dark ages... aka pay for the device separate from the service plan.

@Dashrender Yepp. I know Verizon is more expensive, but they have better signal in the area where I live than even AT & T. If T-Mobile or Cricket or some of the other smaller carriers would work well enough, I would have switched a long time ago.

Everyone has better than AT&T from my experience. TMobile uses AT&T towers when available, so by definition (if it really works) TMobile matches or beats AT&T in all cases. That's the great thing about TMobile, they have deals with pretty much every carrier so you rarely need a TMobile tower.
Verizon beats most everyone in US coverage, partially because they are older, partially because of CDMA, partially because that is just their thing. Strangely, no coverage in central Dallas!

CDMA is a plus? Then why isn't Sprint much better than they are?
It's my understanding that Sprint customers should be roaming to Verizon towers, but we know that Sprint and Verizon use to different CDMA frequencies, and often don't overlap, so that is of no help.
I've never used Verizon as my own service, mainly because their price is significantly higher than the rest. But I had to give up my cheaper Sprint plan for something that actually worked! Moving to AT&T was cheaper than Verizon, because of GSM compatible with most European carriers and therefore roam-able, and worked well in my home (Verizon, like Sprint does not work in my house).

CDMA has much larger range than GSM.
Because you still have to have towers, it's better, not magic.

Thats why I like TMobile. Uses any GSM towers that it can, included AT&T and whatever is local in the country that you are in. And at home it always works because they have full WiFi calling. So I never have to worry about it at my home, any family member's homes or other places that I go regularly.
