Lots of gear left, is anyone going to take any of it?
I thought most of it was gone. Did @FiyaFly ever get the Drobo?
I might be interested in the DL145 too will it run Hyper-v or ESXi?

Oh, the dead one? I don't believe that he ever went to pick it up.

Not unless you can alter the BIOS. Part of the DLx4x series was that HP disabled virtualization.
-
Scott, you feeling like a shiny turd this morning?

Did you want it? I don't think he was that interested. But you would have to check with @Minion-Queen as she did a delivery out to @FiyaFly recently and it might have been dropped off.
-
sorry guys the Drobo is gone
-
Oh it really did go, that's good. In a way.
-
Did one of the V100s get delivered to @FiyaFly we well? I was expecting questions about that once it had arrived.
-
no just the drobo
-
He wanted the broken gear but not the gear that works fine? Weird.
-
How much would shipping a V100 to me cost? And maybe the HP server too
-
LOL, I'll let @Minion-Queen jump in with real numbers but I'm guessing that the number falls firmly between "not a lot" and "more than they are worth"
But maybe the V100 wouldn't be too bad, they are much shorter than you would guess and rather light. Far easier to ship than a DL145. About half the weight and 67% of the length. They are actually square.
-
yeah the cost of the shipping is what killed my desire for one.
-
I can look up shipping costs tomorrow (if you remind me).
-
I think that the V100 is the big "find" of the set because it is small and easy to ship, quiet to run in a house, can be racked or easily wall mounted, is light and easy to move around yet provides a very cool non-PC server platform. Runs FreeBSD well, has two drives for RAID 1 but is Sparc based and is perfect for forcing you to gain perspective on using non-Intel and non-AMD architecture systems.

Absolutely love Sun hardware! Still have Ultra10 and Ultra40 in a running conditions somewhere in our basement.
P.S. It's a pity Sun is out. Pretty much like DEC.
