NY just raised the smoking age to 21!

So all 18 year old smokers need to stock up on 3 years worth in the next 120 days.

Yup, that part concerns me. As much as I think smoking needs to be banned, I think that pulling the rug out from under legally addicted smokers is unfair and probably illegal and could end up undermining the law. Knowingly allowing people to get addicted, and then forcing withdrawal that they might not be able to handle, is probably a crime.

This I would argue with you about, a person has a choice to start smoking, vaping using chew etc. And they aren't allowed to legally do this until 18 currently 21 in 120 days.

This is no different than changing the drinking age from 18 to 21 however many years ago that happened.

Need an account to read that as well. Says I'm in "private mode".

Here is the original article (from AP):

The 'American Pickers' found and fixed Aerosmith's 1970s tour van

Last year, “American Pickers” Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz got a tip about an old 1964 International Harvester Metro van rotting away in the woods on a Massachusetts property that turned out to be the original tour van Aerosmith used in the 1970s, when they were an up-and-coming act.

Maybe the website detects a browser setting like when it tries to save some local data or do location tracking or something.

I believe the people that were already 18 when the drinking age changed to 21 were grandfathered in and were still allowed to buy alcohol. Maybe the same will happen with smoking to prevent what Scott talked about. The article doesn't mention it.

That would make sense, and I'm okay with that.

DR Congo Ebola outbreak declared public health emergency

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Ebola crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) a public health emergency of international concern.
But it stressed borders should not be closed, adding that the risk of the disease spreading outside the region was not high.

OneWeb’s low-Earth satellites hit 400Mbps and 32ms latency in new test

OneWeb's first six satellites pass test as company moves closer to real service.
OneWeb says a test of its low-Earth orbit satellites has delivered broadband speeds of more than 400Mbps with average latency of 32ms.

That is generally the same latency I was getting on my last cable connection to anywhere outside of TWC's network.

400Mbps for a single ground link. not the max per satellite.

While they didn't mention it, you don't expect a clear line of sight signal speed to really waver. Wifi, for example, doesn't change in stationary, line of sight situations.
