Does it matter if I use PJSIP or CHAN SIP?
I believe that Asterisk 12 is going to be pushing PJSIP by default soon. I remember reading that somewhere. It apparently is a lot more lightweight alternative to CHAN SIP. So I don't think it matters.

Great
I now have to phones setup, a T22P and a Zioper softphone.
when I dial one extension from the other the one I'm dialing from rings, but the one I'm calling does not.
-
OK tried calling from the Zioper and received an error messagae
It is also seen when the contact on the other side uses an unsupported by his PBX server audio codec (which causes him to seem to be offline).
OK might have a codec conflict.

I really really have no idea how you have went so far south on this process.
It is literally a snap to do from a full ISO install point of view. I realize that you had problems because you installed into an existing CentOS box. and that is outside the normal flow (even if it is supported).
But once you had it up and running, you should drop into the GUI, add the ext, drop to the phone add the credentials, done.

He is doing this on Cloud@Cost, which doesn't allow custom ISOs to be uploaded.

Exactly.

OK I now have two T22P, they are both registered, yet I can't call between them.

Have you looked at the asterisk console when trying to make the call? It generally has some verbose logging.
-
Some is an understatement!
I see this in the asterisk info tab
OK why are they unavailable?

I realize that. That is why I stated I understand the issues he had during install. But setting up a phone is beyond that now.

@Dashrender Ports open?

Interesting. I haven't played with PJSIP before. Can you try making a Chan SIP extension and register with that?

Well the original phone problem was that I wasn't applying the new extensions I created by clicking the Red Button - (don't press the red button).
But now that I know this... that problem is solved.. and connecting phone is going easy.

Where do I need open ports? The FreePBX box currently had iptables and selinux disabled. Do I need to open ports on my end to make this work?
-
That means that all of your ports are open.

Yeah, that should mean you are wide open.

LOL - yes I know all my ports are showing from the FreePBX system right now... I'm simply wanting to get it working before I lock it down...
and I'll be happy to scrap this whole thing again and follow my own instructions from the other thread.

when trying to dial another phone on the same switch, do I need to do anything more than just dial their extension?
-
Alright - it appears that my Sonicwall is doing some sort of blocking locally.
When I put my PC to a different network with the Zoiper softphone, now I see.
And a successful call from the inside to the softphone...

I think you need to unblock 5060 and 5061 UDP locally. You may also need to unblock some RTP ports I don't remember what those ones are though.
