Oh nice. Congrats!
Thanks. It's nice to be getting out of IT, too. Time for a change of pace.
So not doing stuff for NTG or any IT at all any more?
Mostly out of IT. Operations and Engineering now. The CIO of the new company will report up to me, though.
What I find hilarious is that you're going to know straight off if your CIO is totally BS'ing you or not, just based on your background in IT. Just tell me they're not getting their CIO from SW please.

Yup, gotta use what Costco has. Lack of planning ... one of the many reasons that I had to be brought in

Good luck. Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you.

In some ways I really do, it is going to be crazy. In other ways I'm being given the tools that are needed to do what needs to be done. So I am feeling pretty confident. We will see in a few weeks how things are really going.

That we are already running everything on Linux is pretty nice.

For all intents and purposes.

As COO, I don't really answer to very many people

That's quite the broad spectrum of use.
What do you tell a man with two black eyes?
Ā
Nothing. He's already been told twice. -
Why the intense rush to get equipment? Don't you have a personal device you could use until something real gets in the door?
Also, how long does it really take to get a business class unit in? I'm sure since they are paying you dump truck loads of money - they can afford to pay for overnight shipping.

Things like that also require extra time to setup an account, credit check, etc.

I have never run into a company that couldn't accept a CC for payment while waiting on credit checks to get going. Again, company is paying him truck loads, and he's a COO, he could charge it himself and get reimbursed - this is a startup after all, not a 10 year old company that doesn't allow that type of thing. lol

That might be a good process after we are getting oaid. But not buying their gear on my dime in the first hour on the clock

Yup. We can't do anything practical like that for at least a month or more. It's very complicated.
