Yeah, I know...doesn't @art_of_shred have a spiffy new van though?
-
Yes but not the mileage on it. We have smart buys on the Van and Dart so no driving to TX in them.

Darn...

How long does this drive generally take?
-
That's why we just bought a 3rd car to allow for mileage to pile up on. The new car is great and will be very comfortable for 4 adults. But anymore than that and it wont be.

And I'm the size of two people, easily.

and not just because I'm fluffy...

From here to Austin is about 24 hours if we drive straight through (and that has happened more than once). Going through Flint only adds an extra hour. So not too bad this year.

Ah, and I thought the 18 hour drive to Florida was bad. Good luck on this trip. I could see where if you are working it wouldn't be so terrible but otherwise....

I did Texas to New York the long way straight through without sleep, but I'm not entirely sure I'm completely human...LOL

We have done the trip of Western NY to Monument CO in one straight trip as well. But that is also multiple drivers. This trip will be 4 of us that can drive so that does help.
We do long car tips all the time. No big deal here.

Yeah, it was just me when I came back from Texas...I remember when we went to Columbia, SC though (it was @Minion-Queen, @art_of_shred and myself) and that 13 hour trip felt like an eternity. Coming back from Texas was a breeze. The original trip down in 2013 was much less so. Funny how my perspective changed after living on my own...

Sounds like fun. Wish I could go.

I only drive down because flying out of Dallas to Austin is kind of pointless. Although the MEGABUS! will take you straight there as well, and there is luxury options for bus service between DFW/HOU/AUS leaving almost every hour on the hour. Trip is fast down the highways here in Texas. But ol' Black Betty does the drive well, so I take her instead.
Reminds me of this recruiter who was hitting me up for a job in Austin. Would love to move there, but had to mention to her that Dallas and Austin are almost four hours apart. Folks don't understand sometimes how big Texas is.
Ah yes, big state problems. Lots of people just don't get the distance.
