Big news - it used to be back in the day, Comodo and Clamwin were your only options for free AV for commercial use - I think even Comodo stopped doing this at some point. The only other contender was MS Security Essentials for up to 10 nodes in an environment.

Now, I see this! I've not tried it yet, but, if you don't get nagged to hell (or asked to register every year on each device), this is indeed great news!

One of my long-term favorite AVs.

This had been my go-to home AV for my personal clients for awhile, but the reminder to register was too much for my users (I know, right?). So I would eventually end up giving them Bit Defender or Avira instead...

I'm going to try it out and see how it goes.

Awesome. They've been giving it away to Gov't, Non-profits, Schools etc. for a while now. This is great. Does it come with the SBC or EAP Console for server side. or is it the client only?

Yeah that's the cloud version of the SB Console. The EAC is the enterprise one but I find the SBC better than the enterprise version most of the time.

With Avast I usually disabled a lot of their extra shield or it really slows things down at boot time.

As long as silent/gaming mode is enabled, it's awesome!

Installer is 185MB... I always thought Avast was light weight?

I've never enabled that and it works fine. I only do that on digital signage computer to stop the pop ups. Scans go much slower in gaming mode.

That's full installer not the online installer.

@thecreativeone91 That correct. Is the online installer better? I always get the full installers.

The main thing lacking from this version is AD integration which works great for new installs and updating the client program. But that's in the version that are already giving away to others. also looks like no Password protection on the AV client either.

If you are saving it you'll wan't the full. If it's just for one install there's no reason not to use the online.

                                          Reboot is required after installation.

It wasn't on my windows 8.1 when I just did it. But, I know when you push it out as a slient installer you can set it to not force a reboot.
