Barcelona is absolutely amazing too. Great lifestyle, access to things, food, culture, weather and just an amazing city to be in.

I would say Japan, and not just because my wife is Japanese. I have loved that country for years prior to meeting my wife. Something on Honshu (main island), maybe near Kobe. Would be close to Osaka and there is always the bullet train to Tokyo.

I have lived in other countries (granted they were 3rd world) but I really love living in the US. I want to move to TN or TX area. I would prefer TX for the weather in general but love the green milder in TN as well.

I haven't traveled the world enough to really have a preferred place. I did enjoy Houston though. I need a place that is warmer more than cold but humidity is a must. Dry climates kill my asthma.

Well Houston will give you that. So humid.

My current city (Omaha) definitely gives me plenty of humidity - maybe not as much but I like it.

Does that include an unlimited budget? If so, I'd probably buy somewhere like this on the shore of Lake Windermere in the Lake District here in England. Failing that, somewhere more modest nearby.

There would have to be some money left over to buy a boat to go with it as well.

Actually, that last house I linked to was too big for my taste. This would place would be perfect:

I reckon a few hours of remote IT work in the morning, and off hiking the mountains in the afternoon, followed by a couple of pints of real ale in the local pub in the evening. Life couldn't get better than that. I just need to find a million bucks from somewhere and I'm sorted.

No. Cost matters. This is freedom to move. Not "you are now a billionaire".

Well I can dream, can't I? I may have a problem in that my salary precludes the ability to buy a home in some of the most desirable places in the world.

That's why I mentioned Montevideo - the lowest cost jet setting city in the world. All the amenities of London or New York at a tiny fraction of the price.

That sounds good. I'll have to learn Spanish and check my bosses are ok with me remoting in to work, but otherwise I hope to see you there in a few years time. We can meet up for a few beers after work.

We've talked about moving there before. Basically same time zone as here but amazing access to stuff at a really low price. And Buenos Aires is only like 45 minutes away.

                                  I have a few:

                                  Honolulu, Hawaii.
                                  Glasgow, Scotland
And a few places in the south, mostly the Carolinas.

But if I were a billionaire......

I would buy my own island, have a yacht (like a small oceanliner) and just live like Richard Branson and buy my own railroad like Buffet did.

Well the closest I've been to Europe would be Bahrain/Dubai... So I would love to work from the UK somewhere, or Spain/Italy.

Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore if I need to work in a "hub", but would take remote Thailand/Philippines for the culture and dirt cheap living.
