I prefer peanut butter too, but growing up in the US can cause that.
I find myself in the same boat.
I love American food, it's the best food in the world. Traditional Eastern European food is the worst food in the world. Italian food is great too, and I do get a lot of BS for liking peanut butter more than nutella from my European friends and family. They can all go to hell, I'll eat McDonald's in Rome any time.
LOL McDonalds in Rome is nothing like McD's in the US though.
-
@Dashrender Damn straight! The worst McDonald's in the world is in Hongkong, that I've tried. Oh my god, it was disgusting, and it wasn't anything specific to the region, it was supposed to be a damn hamburger.

LOL do they even have beef in HongKong?
-
@Dashrender We may have a rat burger situation like in Demolition Man.
-
We need to get one of those machines that fine PSX when he swears LOL

In Africa we ate Jempy (almost like Nutella just MUCH sweeter). Peanut butter is something I missed when we were gone. Of course our native cook made us peanut butter but anything made with the Palm oil there is gross.

After living in another country American or Americanized food is my favorite. We had some interesting things while traveling but I missed PIZZA and a real burger (not McDonalds).
-
@Minion-Queen Warning: Pizza in Russia comes with barbecue sauce unless you order it "American style", it's pretty gross.
-
Pizza might be an Italian invention, but I definitely like American style better.
Had pizza in both Paris and Rome, the first margarita pizza I had in Rome was pretty good, but the rest was pretty bad!
-
@Dashrender Oh hell yes. That's all I have to say about that.

BBQ sauce on pizza is tops

Of course you US Mangoes like your American/Americanised foods. I'd be surprised if you didn't.
I'm not to keen on it, well not lots of it. It's nice every now and then. I couldn't eat it all day every day.
Ā
I like food from most countries. Especially coffee. I really like coffee. -
Childhood memories of Nutella and Cream Crackers (maybe this is an HK thing... maybe it's just a me-thing, who knows)
-
@julian looks tops!
-
The only place I visited is Dominican and Jamaica. In Jamaica they through out McDonald's due to it being unhealthy and the chickens being treated with chemicals. I was shock!
-
I liked McDonalds when I lived in Hong Kong. But I worked in an office that had a KFC on the ground floor and for a while I ate spicy chicken with mushroom rice every day for lunch, until I grew a second chin and decided I'd better stop. KFC in HK was great - KFC in the UK is disgusting.
Generally I find American food far too sweet.

Best coffee was in Ethiopia. But Congo was pretty good, of course if you wanted a cup it took you a day or so to make it. Go to market search through open air market for coffee beans. Take home pick out various identifiable and unidentifiable things (some still alive). Clean and boil for 10 minutes (had to get all the bugs out). Skim for bugs. Dry then roast over your funny little camp stove (you know the little multi fuel ones). Set to rest. Time to grind! Oh wait no power today to use the grinder, how bad do you really want coffee? Morter and Pestel to the rescue while you also try to get water to boil. One small cup later (cause grinding up too many attracts bugs and also takes too long). Creamer HA! Dream on.

I was lucky to get to have New York Cafe coffee while over there a few times. It was the winner of the best coffee in the world at the time that we were there and it was indeed very good. We were staying in a town very near that cafe so they served the coffee locally in Tuscany.
