I just sit there while everyone rushes the gate, then walk up after everyone else has boarded.

Doesn't work on SouthWest, they don't have assigned seats. And people are afraid since airlines are allowed to bump you as long as you haven't boarded yet.

Cuz then you get stuck in a middle seat and both people on the side of you take your armrests.
