Nope, that's mostly everywhere. Seeing that done just down the street from where I grew up had a lot to do with me becoming a vegetarian.

Helped to slaughter chickens when I was in grade school. Did not bother me. I love fried chicken.

So, "Some bloke sent me this" is similar to "some guy/man/male sent me this"
