      Valve and others are working on a next generation OpenGL replacement to make Linux and Mac gaming even more competitive with Windows and DirectX while providing better compatibility making it easier for companies to port games between platforms.

          Interesting, I know OpenGL has had some issues in the past with stability and age of code. Didn't realize it needed to be entirely overhauled.

            Sounds like a lot of the overhauling is for compatibility reasons, not performance or stability necessarily.

              Hope this gets more traction than the last three iterations. But with DirectX 12 coming with full Tesselation support, I don't see how OpenGL can possibly keep up...
