Have you tried the default User ID and Password?

I agree in trying the default login. Good chance it was never changed. If it was, then you may be out of luck if the former tech won't give it to you.

Thanks, I found that info and it doesn't log you into the web client.

Can you call the vendor if the password is completely lost? They often have back doors in.

I presume that the web client is a GUI for the appliance. And if I can't login using the default user/pass then the same would be true if I bring a monitor for the appliance and login manually.

You may have no choice but to reset it,... Which isn't the preferred manner

                  There is always that too.

Ok...thanks peeps...to be clear, if I don't have admin access to the Web Client...I still won't have admin access to the actual DVR appliance, right?

Maybe, maybe not. Some systems use different credentials for local vs web access. Some don't. Some have a local admin account on the unit itself. I have no way of knowing with your exact unit.

and to be clear, when I say web client, the address is the local IP of the device.

Either way I am heading back to that shop next week.

I knew what you meant. I've messed with DVR systems before.

I hate DVRs. Although looking to check out the new one from Ubiquiti.

As a technology or a concept? I know where you stand on the whole voicemail thing...lol

Kind of both. Recording devices that are kept separate from the infrastructure and typically lack basic enterprise design.

Thanks for all the help and information.

I was able to hook up a monitor and login using Admin and one of the usual passwords. I checked the user list and realized I might have been using admin or administrator instead of "Admin". I was able to log in the Web GUI and make the necessary changes for no-ip.com and now they can view cameras from a domain name or mobile device app.

My only gripe is that you have to use IE if trying to view on a PC, which means you have to use an app on a tablet instead of a browser.
