@ambarishrh cheap storage don't mean good .. there's no SLA's on the site for example ... sounds a bit sketchy to me ..

Exactly. It's pretty easy to offer super cheap storage if you use 4TB WD Red drives in enormous arrays on RAID 6 in software RAID with heavy compression and dedupe and no backups.

But, but RAID is it own form of back up right? XD

@StefUk No SLA means it's no where near Enterprise ready. I'm not sure I would even trust my home data on it.

I am amazed at how many companies are making grabs at this particular niche. There is a limit on how many can survive.
How many want to survive though? I suspect most just want dropbox or Microsoft to give them a few million to bugger off.

That's very true. And many users are just looking for temporary transfer storage too.

The temp transfer is a definitely an option - I wonder how many people start with that idea, then forget and start using it otherwise.

A lot, I am sure. That is where these services terrify IT departments. No internal governance.

Along that same lines I've asked management if we could filter these types of services from use before people start using them. Of course no filter will get them all, but by blocking most the hope is that staff will reach out and ask - hey I would like to use drop box - then we can have a real discussion to find a solution that will provide the services they require while still following regulation.
I'd rather have this instead of the problem I have today - people use texting inappropriately because they are either to lazy to use the correct encrypted solution or too cheap to pay for it.

Was checking on hubic site if I could find some details on the SLA. Seems like they are using ovh and found this link
