Kinda Wish I Was in Austin...

So I was actually internally recommended at Spiceworks for a position they have open. The guy I hung out with on Monday with @dengelhardt and Seth Morgan was named Peter, and he's a Spiceworker. He recommended me internally and I got an email from one of their people about this job. I REALLY wish I was in Austin right now because the job description literally sounds perfect for me.
Not much I can do about it now...oh well... -

My lease doesn't run out until February, which is when I'm going to switch to month-to-month. That being said, even if I wasn't tied to my lease, I don't have the money to move right now.

That job description is for a six figure job (by the way that it is worded.) If you got that job the last thing that you would be worried about is your Dallas rent.

Agreed, there is no harm in at least applying and interviewing. I know you have plenty of public speaking experience, but interviewing is an exceedingly fun way to practice that talent.

One of the great things that I did when I was consulting when I was young was interview several times per week. I worked short term contracts for years which meant that even while I was working I was constantly looking for next week's contract. That meant that interviewing became second nature. It was incredibly valuable. Now interviewing is a completely casual thing for me which in turn makes me that much better at it.

Austin is wonderful. Don't hold yourself back, give it a try! What do you have to lose?

Interviewing is not a commitment. You can see how it goes and make a decision if you get an offer. Maybe you will interview and find that it is not even a job that you are interested in.

I would interview, but to interview I'd have to drive 3 hours each way for a job I'm in no position to take.

It's possible. Even if I was going to move, it wouldn't be until February at the earliest. I know I'm not going to have the money, even then. I really like the look of this job too!

You don't sleep anyway, right? You will still have your Dallas apartment as your legal address anyways. I am talking about doing this for a week or two. You could drive back to your Dallas apartment on the weekend

How could you not be in a position to take it? It is so senior to what you are doing. It's ten years or more farther down the career path. If they think that you are qualified this would trump any apartment issues.

I think it's worth your time to contact them and see if they might do the interview via Skype.
