Not sure if this goes in IT Discussion or Water Closet because it's more of a RANT than an IT Problem.

I have ranted previously on this, but still finding it as common behavior.

Will someone PLEASE tell IT security departments that geoblocking is insanely stupid?

You have to believe that people on vacation in Central America (or living abroad there) is a huge thread, and/or that hackers don't know how to use VPN or otherwise spoof their IP addresses.

@CCWTech A friend of mine posted on Facebook asking everyone about an issue her son is having with connecting to his school's portal to do summer school work while he's abroad. The issue she described sounded like textbook network geoblocking.

A couple of years ago, we discovered that AT&T geoblocks all VOIP traffic from India. We sent some configured phones to them, because the bosses were told by AT&T that it would work fine. Nope. All the tracert results clearly showed them dropping the traffic. But then a few months ago, it started working! The India team emailed me asking to change out the names/extensions, and since then we've had no problems.
