Do not want. I hate email notifications. But the feature should exist. Quite surprised it doesn't.

I honestly don't want to use them either. I watch the threads enough to not need them. But for a lot of people, they are the main way to know what is going on.

A more robust alerting and notification system inside the site would solve a lot of that need, but lacking that, email is needed.

Not a fan of emails either, but I certainly see why they are needed.

I suppose an app on my phone notifying me of new post would be as good or better than an email!

That could be done, in theory, separate from NodeBB itself. There is an API and, in theory, an iOS app would be possible. Not sure how much it would entail.

Email notifications would most definitely be quite useful.

I can't wait for that to happen. Being able to turn them on and off will be great for those who don't want them as well. But my day would be easier if we had them.

Yes, we need the capability but we need to be able to shut it off too. About 50% of the main posters need them and about 50% need to avoid them. Turning them on will put our MailGun account into a fit too, so that is another factor to consider. That will be a crazy amount of traffic. More than any NodeBB site has ever tested before as we are the busiest.

How about an app? I'm sure as an android user I won't get one for a long time (Danielle likes her iPhone to much), but it would solve the problem of email.

Yes, but it's just a shortcut to the site - it won't notify me that there are new posts to read (i.e. my email has a huge red 5 if I have 5 new messages)

It is a bit of work. If doing an iOS one, an Android one would be comparable.

I wonder if there is an RSS feed option that would do the trick. I have not played around with that.

Even if it just alerted and listed what was new and linked to the page itself. It would be something.

Take a look at the app Forum Runner - it's designed for something exactly like this - heck perhaps forum runner can plug into nobebb (is that the right name?)

Correct, NodeBB. The "Node Bulletin Board" built on the Node.js framework.
