This isn't the first time this has happened, and sadly I don't remember directly what I did to fix it. But, when I go to play videos - on Youtube or on other sites this is what I get:
I just finished a reset - but that didn't help.... Seems I'm the only one that deals with this... in our IT dept or the org. Weird...
can you play them in porn mode on chrome?

incognito mode = porn mode
Incognito mode is jacked as well.

Come on man - You've been around JB enough to know Porn mode, haven't you?
I've been calling it porn mode way longer that I've known JB. He does tend to keep it front of mind tho

I casually say I'm watching porn, when I mean cable porn, like in neat datacenter installations, and server porn (as in dual 128 core, 4TB RAM, 1PB NVMe flash) etc.
Anyway, I need to stop that before saying it in the wrong situation...

Well now that we have porn and the 'porn mode' out of the way...
Are there any thoughts on what could be causing this, how to prevent it, and on (a reminder) of how to rectify the issue? Preferably I would like to not lose saved passwords and such, or book marks. but I know where bookmarks are so that is easy enough.

I'd reinstall the browser. It's easy to backup all that stuff to your Google account or do it manually.
Also I'd recommend not saving passwords in Chrome.

This may help..... I'm using Vivaldi, a Chrome based browser.
YouTube videos and Jitsi sessions both give me issues. By experimenting, I've found that my bluetooth device and I'm sure, Windows causes all kinds of grief with the audio/video of things. I don't use wired headphones.
I now make sure that my bluetooth device is connected before I open the browser. I also open the sound mixer and choose the bluetooth device as the audio device that's desired for use. Sometimes I change the device in the sound mixer after I have it connected and the browser is opened. It may be listed more than once in different roles, ie as a device with a microphone.
Mess with these settings. It may clear up for you.

Just a quick update. Nothing has really changed.... and now that this is here - I seem to remember asking about this before -
Right now - nothing having changed,... I can play videos... this afternoon - I bet this afternoon won't be possible.

Completely defaultedChrome by deleting the entire Default folder. I only copied back the bookmarks file from there.
Other than starting to sign into my daily sites, I signed in for bookmark syncing….
Maybe in three months this won’t happen yet again.
