Wow - the $29.00 UniFi Protect G3 Instant camera is brand new, and in huge demand! Most likely because the price is so cost effective for a UniFi Protect camera. In this video, we unbox and review the UVC-G3-INS-US and then compare it to both the G3 Flex ($79) and G3 Micro ($199) cameras. How will this bargain-priced mini camera stand up to its bigger brothers?

I was put off by his praising a "wireless" cameras that needs cabled power. I might as well pull PoE if I am going to try and get power to a discrete location for the camera. Obviously, you can place these on tables and shelves and run lamp extension cords, but theses locations may not (in all likelihood) be where you want the cameras. None of the 22 cameras at my house are within 6' of an AC outlet.

Mind if I ask what you are doing for power? POE? or batteries?

I mean a Wyze camera for consumer usage is much better at this moment.

                  PoE.

I actually try and get everything PoE. I'll even get different brands from other industries (for some projects) just to be able to do PoE.

                  Things I run on PoE:

My kid's MagicMirror is a 12 volt 24" lcd and Raspberry Pi with a microwave motion sensor and the whole project runs off a single PoE feed.

                  Door control system.

                  Gate Controller

                  Lighting

                  PoE is way cool!

                  Custom PLC projects for customers.

I agree - I love POE... But cabling, especially in homes still suck!

Are homes growing their own Ethernet now?

I'm assuming this is a joke, but I don't get it.

You said running cabling sucks in homes, as if they come with ethernet built in or were growing it themselves.

At least I'm keenly aware of how I'm perceived.
