The only time I was asked for an exit interview was 2 weeks after I was already gone. I had nothing nice to say, so I figured it was better to not burn any bridges.

Exit interviews are a thing in the HRs handbook that never actually happen in real life.

                BAHAHAHAHA!
I've been an exit interview-ee (as opposed to the interviewer).

Never burn your bridges, even in an exit interview. You never know when you will meet the HR person or someone from management again. Also, you don't want to ruin a reference.

Always happen where I have been.

I've actually seen/heard them happen quite frequently. I'm guessing the only reason I didn't get one before I left that company was because they were trying to keep me, but they cheaped out over $2K so I left.
